E:D 25% discount on Steam

I'm just hoping the new steam people stay on the steam discussion boards. I've said some pretty mean things on these forums lately, but even I feel uncomfortable reading some of the threads on the steam group...

Dont know, i payed the full price from the Frontier store and can also still get a steam key for free.

If Frontier needs the money, i really wonder why you can get the game that cheap on XBox one and steam now.
I mean there is no need to discount it, its still a great game worth the full price.

Well it looks like it topped the sales for most of the day - well done ED! Still showing #2 which is pretty darn good considering the smaller discount compared to other titles on offer right now.

Bumpedy bump. Only £30 via Frontier & Steam. More Cmdrs can only be good thing for the longevity of ED.

I will buy me a boxed version when im at home too. I guess it wont be bound to my existig account, so i can gift the code to my brother or father.

Because a lot of people pick it up on Steam in the Steam sales rush because it is -25%... They will not play for a very long time.
This benefits FD twofold:
1. New influx of players, thereby possible exposure by word of mouth
2. In a few months, these players will rarely log on anymore, reducing server load.

Or, if you prefer - In the last few weeks, they barely had 500-800 new players per day at 40 quid, and now at 30 quid 30000... That means in one day they made more money than in the time between the steam launch and this sale.

I think it was a smart move and the right sales discount.

And back at the number one position on the top seller list again I see! :)

And while on the subject of sales...

Elite have seen a "slight" bump today in terms of new backers coming on board... :D

For reference...that first bump to the left was the Steam launch (10,202 backers)...the last dot is today (26,841 backers so far). They've added roughly 1,300 new backers every half hour during the last couple of hours and I usually end the day at 10 o'clock in the evening (Sweden) so if we add that on top they will end up with roughly 28,000 new players today. :)

(In case you're wondering...that blank area was me on vacation. :D)

EDIT: Update...yep, they ended up at 28,224 new backers today. :)

Looks like this will be one of the last charts you do as the backers app appears to be DOA with regards to providing backer numbers.

I expect this is as a result of incoming Planet Coaster backers. Pity as I liked seeing the ED backer numbers climbing in more or less real time. :(

Steam summer sale revenue (estimated)

First a disclaimer: Steamspy is a site that crawls data from Steam users (non-private). It then uses that data to create statistics using algorithms. This data is of course an estimation, but some tests have shown it to be fairly accurate. For info on this, read http://steamspy.com/about

http://steamspy.com/sale/
The data is from the period of the summer sale. If you click the small up arrow to sort the column with "Revenue" you will see that ED is estimated to have earned almost $2 million dollars just during the sale. Then Steam takes its 30% tax. Estimated new owners during the sale is about 42 500. It was the 8:th most income bringing game during the sale. Of course new owners can be people who just registered their free Steam key after May 28, but I guess most people would already have done that before the Steam sale.

Edit: I saw this info on Neogaf here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1070495
