Horizons "Early Access" ? Is this world connected with everyone else?

I just bought Horizons but haven't played it yet. I noticed Steam is calling it Early Access. Why is that? I thought Horizons was fully released on 12/15?

Also, is this "early access" world connected with the normal Elite: Dangerous world currently?

Yes it is.

It will be considered early access until all features along the 10 year plan will be implemented.

And then some will consider it "incomplete" because their favourite feature was lost or was comprimised along the way.

Also, needs polish and bug fixing. After Horizon I freeze like there would be no tomorrow.
