Easy fix for Open mode...

I love that people pretend there wasn't anything like a metagame before engineers came along. It's pure nonsense.
You either had a ship which was suitable for combat, or one that wasn't. Not much to metagme there, including FA off and/or SCBs and heat sinks. :)

And a merry christmas and a happy new year to all!
(no offence intended)
:)

And remove the interdiction bias of the interdictors. Level everything out.

(and a merry Christmas to you too!)

Despite you complaining about a meta, it's clear you aren't fully aware of what that actually means.

Oh well.

i like it but i would miss the jump range.

the problem is game balance, i would rather they fix that instead of a roll back to a point in time where balance wasn't particularly great anyway.

besides here's the game mode we all want to play (even if you dont know it yet)

Never mind kid, never mind. ;)
I'm sure somebody will explain it to you. It would be right awful if you continued to embarrass yourself in such a way.

Here's a hint: not all combat ships were equally effective against all other combat ships. Your inability to grasp complexity does not indicate a lack of complexity.

Remove shield boosters and only allow HRP / MRPs / SCBs to be installed in military slots, and I'd be very tempted to play this mode. It'll never happen, however - it's a pie in the sky dream.

That'd leave a lot of empty optional slots on a corvette. Filling them with modules to suit a variety of activities would mean you'd just be flying a low jump range conda.

I dont have a lot of pvp knowledge or experience, and shield defenses are obviously over the top at the moment & have been for a long while, but even if shields got a rebalance I cant see a reason to drop hull levels unless you desire a game where pvp fights are over super quick.
