I imagine the bulk of the price is just a flat upfront insurance cost, and they have absolutely massive amounts of ship inventory just lying around. Space is a big place and a lot of places to build ships at.
I really dont understand this mentality. Why would you want it to be easier for people to lose their ships? I just bought a fleet carrier and loaded it up with funds to last it a while and ended up with so little that Im scared to use my Corvette. It's plenty punishing for those who make too many mistakes. Besides it's a pretty realistic policy. Consider it your deductable
