Economy types – Lore (information request)

Does anyone know, from a lore perspective, what the purpose of the following economies are:
Military, Service, Tourism, Terraforming.

Military - Do military economies maintain and repair fleets here? Or do they have another purpose?

Service – Do service economies have the potential to maintain and repair fleets too? Or is their function specifically non-military (this will determine the direction of 2 plot ideas).
I’ve read the description of some service economies, hotels, religious sects, tourism, biosciences research are possibilities.

Tourism – I can only guess that these stations provide entertainment and tourist resorts.

Terraforming – is the sole purpose of these stations to assist the terraforming process? What happens to the station when the planet is terraformed? Will it be converted to perform another function? (e.g. a refinery or high tech station.)

I have some ideas for stories spread across several systems driven by player actions and using the background sim to achieve this. It’ll be a long term project, a living story, but I want it to fit into the lore of the galaxy. It may even have the potential to alter the shape of the galaxy and help other player groups achieve their goals of development (one can dream).

Generally speaking the Military economies I have seen were the big Naval bases for the Empire and Federation (notably Facece and Eta Cassiopeia). That said, Summerland is owned by a PMC (Private Military Company)

I've imagined Service economies being the centres of bureaucracy seen as both Achenar and Sol are the only two I can call off the top of my head.

Generally speaking, Terraforming in Sci-fi sense is used to turn the world into one where agriculture could take place, or failing that to make the other economy of that system easier (so for example, in an acidic atmosphere, terraforming would mean extraction economies would be a lot easier as the equipment wouldn't keep falling apart/specialist EVA gear wouldn't be needed to be worn).

I think you've explained tourism economies perfectly.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the military systems, the descriptions seem to indicate these are training facilities. Naval administration is noted in the Facece description too.

This helps me decide the direction that I want to take the plot I'm considering :)
