ED 2.2 Neutron Stars. Do they turn/change orientation?

Well, hey it looks like it's not intended game-play.
So now for my noob dumb question:
How will we know when this fix is in?
assuming just watch for the next patch? or can they ninja fix?
I've never had a thing effect me to where I had to pay attention.

I was rammed into the streams of three neutrons during my path finding expedition. I managed to get away all three times because I am super vigilant when I am approaching the end of a warp into a neutron system. I am quick to pull the stick to send me toward the shorter distance to avoid the exclusion zone. Still, in one case i was not able to move much being right about in the middle of the stream. I think I escaped that one by luck.

I wanted to add that these three times I was thrust into the stream upon exiting witch space. So if this was indeed said to be "fixed" it was not.

Hey folks,

after having sold my exploration data at Polo Harbour I spent some time in a small neutron field between Polo and Gagarin and I have made the same experience as Zanny. What I got on several occasions upon hyper exit was the message "FSD operating at dangerous capacity" but that was it.

Just got back from a business trip today to see if I'd get destroyed. I'm aiming to discover 1000+ NS systems and I'm only at 650 now, so still a good number before I return home. My very first NS system visited put me looking right down the barrel of the plume. I was at Zero throttle, and got the above message as I was turning away 90 degrees and then throttling up. No shaking at all, was in full control the whole time.

I should have checked the size of the NS though.

Not all Plumes are created equal. Some are quite fervent and large, others quite calm and serene.

The 20 I've been too since that one have all more or less been coming from the side 60 to 90 degrees at most. But even then, some of the more aggressive plumes really make you lean back in your seat as you feel like the plume is going to reach out and grab you.

I do really like the rush I get now jumping in on these systems, but if there are cases that result in completely unavoidable destruction, which wouldn't surprise me in the least, that would be very unfortunate.

My understanding is that regardless of the bug or not, and whether FD reimburse you your rebuy, there's no way to have your scan data replaced. Since NS and WD are targets for explorers it's a shame they're having the consequences they are. Just increasing the drop out from .22/.23 to .3 would be a big help. Also fine with having issues when deliberately trying to get the boost, it's not something I plan on doing while on an exploration run.

Well after today I can confirm that exiting hyperspace into a neutron jet plume whilst directly facing the star is actually survivable.

I was already zero throttled (as I'm sure most explorers do automatically by now), and after the initial mini heart attack realising what had happened, I oriented myself ~90 degrees away from the star (whislt still zero throttled) and then gently accellerated out of the plume whilst fighting the gravitational turbulence.

It was definitely a brown trousers experience, but I lived to tell the tale with no damage. :)

Good to know Sixxor. (+ rep to you). It seems that you can escape these plumes if you are "on your game" so to speak.

However. I've been thinking about a few different scenario's:

Let's jump into a Class O or a big mass black Hole system with a close Neutron Star secondary. How is the cone/ plume going to effect you on jump in?

Lets go further.

What is going to happen with a 3 (Three) Neutron Star system on jump in? (if they were close together)

That could be swell..

This was poorly thought out.

(I can not believe I had to pass up a system with 3 neutrons in it today for fear of dying. it was one for the bucket list)

I'm for the first time Jaded with this game.

Like I said on page 1:

In my case it was a bit different. I jumped to a Black Hole system with 3 NS in it. Upon exit I was placed some 6ls away from the BH (instead of some 4.5 Mm) which in this case also put me right inside the jet of a closely orbiting NS. So I kind of consider this an extremely unfortunate case of fate (or doom). However, if I recall the natch potes correctly, FD did take precautions for ships jumping to a NS system not exiting in the jet's vector.

It may be, that it's not working properly, however.

It's entirely possible that the code is in conflict with the other part of the exit Hyperspace jump which puts you with your destination behind you.

Probably something stupid like [Check exit is not in polar region] which is then followed by [Move exit to match destination] and the avoidance check is overridden. Although, I'm sure the code is much more complex than that. ;)

I can also appreciate how that situation can play out, because a few jumps after my brown trousers moment, I jumped into a black hole system which also had a neutron and a white dwarf.
The neutron was very close the to black hole and as I exited hyperspace I got the 'FSD under gravitational strain' message, but I wasn't quite in the plume, just on the edge of it, so I was able to maneuver out of danger without much trouble. Still scary though as I had neither the NS or the BH targeted, so was just hoping I wouldn't hit the exclusion zone of the BH I couldn't actually see before reaching a safe distance!
That could have ended very badly.

If you don't jump into the NS or WD stream right on then it's not too bad. I like the new boost mechanic.

With a FSD lv3 boost (the one you can make in your ship) the 200% boost is just.....amazing...

That said, jumping to Neutron stars now, it does make you c*ap your pants a bit. Rapidly rotating NS's are very very dangerous...
