ED - A Script Kiddie's Wet Dream

It can't be linked here due to forum rules. Even discussing it may be an issue, depending on how far the discussion goes.

Just search for Elite Dangerous Script Bot and you will see all the evidence, including videos.

You mean that very first result that says right at the top, 'Edit: not working anymore. Don't lose time with this?'

Second result only promotes it as a way to earn credits. Yawn. Skill per hour > credits per hour.

Third is this post. Lol.

Fourth is a guy asking about stuff in order to automate flight.

You made it sound like it was obvious to anyone. It's not. I'm not convinced this is a huge issue. Folks using this stuff are just wasting their energy. Y'all gonna have to pony up some evidence.

Any bots that show up on Google will be the first to be taken down. Simple as that. Working stuff is well hidden.

At any rate, I'm not sure discussing it here is the best thing. Like I said, it's amazing so few people know about it, and it's probably better it stays that way. Less people looking for them means less people using them.

Then why did you say this when the working stuff is well hidden?

'This is a very real thing, and all the answers are one quick Google search away.'

It's funny, but that is the opposite position modern security practices operate on. Google's Research Team has even revived full disclosure, so these things get fixed, if necessary by embarrassing the vendor. It's better to know than to not know.

I am still skeptical, though. 64-bit memory injection is hard, and macros are just a more defined form of voice attack.

When it comes to the BGS, the few times I heard people complain about bots, there was a perfectly good BGS mechanics reason why their faction was losing influence.

Devise some actual proper mechanics rather than stuff that is so simple it can be automated in such a way.

Hit the nail on the head here. If PP mechanics didn't have brain-death as prerequisite for enjoyment, then maybe bots wouldn't be able to compete. More analog inputs would be nice, for example: if combat (or anything that required skilled flight) was an effective means, and shield tanking for 30 min while afk wasn't possible.

You assuming there is working 'hidden' stuff? because I'd had expected if you knew about something that would be reportted to FD for analysis as soon as possible..

Specifics on working stuff can't be discussed here. But yes, reporting to Frontier would be the correct thing.

Excuse my ignorance, what do the bots do?

Well since the BSG and Power Play was mentioend, at a guess

The BGS used to or still does, if dont know, tract the number of transactions when counting effect of activities, rather than it being just based on the size of the transaction.
This way a new Cmdr in a Sidewinder doing a lot of little things has a valuable effect on the BGS.

So if one was selling Exploration data, one exploit was to sell it a system at a time, so a bot or macro to do this so you don't have to would be one idea.

On Power Play, a bot or macro to buy the Fortification or Prep or other commodities per tick, so you could leave your machine running, go to work and come back with a full days worth of allocations.

so, it just saves you from clicking. Then voice attack is a bot.

You still have to go collect the honks, and run the whatever PP thing you need to bring somewhere.

Non-issue
