ED - A Script Kiddie's Wet Dream

If you're really that concerned about what your search history might contain...

1. Use a bootable OS on removable media, like a Linux Bootable ISO. Nothing written or cached anywhere, no hard drive required.
2. You can be traced backwards from where you went.

I was just babbling about DDG as I only read about the way it works and an interview yesterday. If you're super concerned, hack your neighbours router and use their PC.

Ok frontier plans on releasing a fleet mechanic in the future. Maybe it’s a Panther Clipper with the ability to carry a squadron of ships. I can operate the flag ship while launching a Cobra, Vulture... etc but these could be run by bots?

We’ll sign me up! I’ll take a dozen!

Did anyone find info about lovebots? PM me, pls.

It was never 'angrily asking'..

In any case, not sure what your point is. Maybe I have to have a crystal ball to inside your head or something? Or lower my IQ.. I don't know..

Regardless; I found out that 3.0 added GPS co-ords etc, altitude, and lots of other goodies. So, like is my way.. I wrote my own API :D

Even added a webserver so other machines on my LAN can query it.

Well...

"When will we see a proper API implementation, and not this writing to log files nonsense?"

"Best way to do this?! Are you kidding me? Are we back in 1984? This is the worst way to do this! All the information the log files provide should be provided through shared memory."

"Seriously! You know absolutely nothing about what is being discussed. And you seem to know even less about what is being asked for. How on God's green earth is reading and writing to a text file, whether it be json or whatever, better than doing a memory read/write?

Please, you're just showing plain ignorance now."

Angrily/aggressively/rudely, whatever you want to call it.

My point is just what I said in that thread. That it'd just be used for bots, so it's unlikely.

Oddly like the bot you just mentioned you were working on, and presumably wanted this data for!

I suspect the bots have become sentient. This would explain the posts apparently made by players complaining about being made to grind endlessly without any enjoyment.

It can't be linked here due to forum rules. Even discussing it may be an issue, depending on how far the discussion goes.

Just search for Elite Dangerous Script Bot and you will see all the evidence, including videos.

This is actually pretty typical FDev response to game-damaging exploits they cant fix by nerfing. Other good example would be Horrible Combat Logging (tm).

So they try to hush discussing them, act dismissively, claim there are "super-secret prevention systems" in place (which they can't tell you about, but they really effective, promise!), and claim that "only small majority of players does it so no big deal". While I suspect actual picture is much less rosy.

As an absolutely not-casual BGS player, I'd like to ask...

what the heck are you talking about?

Ditto.

You can say what you will about Frontier, but they apparently have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to the use of automation in order to game the system.

Reliable sources claim that users found guilty of this high crime are permanently banned from the game. No warnings, no three strikes. You attempt to game ED in this way, you're gone...for life.

There are some noteworthy griefers, combat loggers and Seal Clubbers out there who I believe would be the most qualified to test this claim for themselves and then report back as to whether or not such permabans in ED are real or imagined. :D

I'm a programmer and would seriously tip my hat to anyone who could make a bot that could fly a ship from one station to another let alone a planet. I don't think it's been done myself. If Frontier finds that it has been done by someone, they shouldn't ban them, they should hire them!

It has been done without any memory-peeking stuff, but the use of bots is forbidden actually so it doesn't matter.

That isn't what the users of these forbidden bots want to do with them. Their singular goal is to automate the process of Credit earning and rank progression. Basically cheating their way into more $$ and higher ranks for their account (s).

The operative word here is CHEATING. ;)

I am still here, just reading the thread. The usual white-knighting and off-topic nonsense is rampant of course, as usual.

For the record, I do not recall any interaction with anyone named AdHock, in game or on these forums. He's blowing irrelevant derailing body odour. :D

I've seen evidence of bots being used to influence Powerplay. I'd be surprised if they were not also being used to influence the BGS.
