ED: HDD vs SSD performance difference?

My old HDD died last week after years of service. It's now been replaced by an SSD but I'm yet to reinstall ED.

The performance gain in ESO was crazy. Just wondering what kind of difference I can expect running ED off SSD after using HDD since 2015?

Shorter load times and less stutter. The game does access assets on disk during play, mostly when jumping (but hyperspace load times are often GPU limited), and to a lesser extent when approaching planets in SC.

Between a mechanical HDD and an SSD, it's not a huge difference, but it's definitely there.

No problems running any game with HDD. Sure, windows is taking longer to boot up these days - due to all the updates, but that's "normal".
Games tend to be very good at caching data, so HDD is not really a problem I've ever encountered in 30+ years of PC gaming.

As pointed out, the primary benefit of SSDs is reduced loading time. Anything that requires disk access will be faster. E: D doesn't need to load much from disk once it is first loaded, so I doubt you'd notice much in-game improvement.

SSDs are so cheap these days that they are a no-brainer. HDDs simply don't compare (except for massive data storage, and they only compare favourably on cost in that case).

I mean I would have thought that I was talking about loading times was implied but yeah that's what I was looking for. (Not talking about you here mind)

Thank you.

As others already said: the SSD can reduce loading times a bit, but in ED you don't really notice it too much.

It's other games where the SSD matters. The mentioned Elder Scrolls Online or BattleTech from Harebrained Schemes run much better since i migrated them to my SSD.

I moved Elite to ssd some time ago and there's no noticeable difference.

In other games it can be significant change.

When you play games like DCS World SSD hard drive make a HUGE difference (less than 1 minute to load a map instead of 5-6 minutes).

When I switched to ED I didn't notice much of a difference since it's not much hungry.
