ED HELP.... Users Please do not go AFK when setting on the pad on the outposts!!!

very tempted to pay the fine after he left the station.....

You should have. I long for these opportunities - for people to give me a reason to take them down. Fines shmines. Who cares. Not a biggy. To me destroying a ship that deserves it is worth every penny ikt might cost. And if its a fed ship, I'm not paying anyway, consequences be damned

I think once you've landed you should be automatically, docked into the station... because, lets face it, when you launch it takes you in to turn you around anyhow.... BUT simply go solo, docking issues solved ;)

Perhaps a "pay and display" system. The longer you are blocking a bay, the more you have to pay. So free for the first 15 minutes, 30 credits up to half an hour and then 200 credits an hour after that. People would soon move on.

Being constructive I have to agree with OP here. I actually have never had a problem docking and I have never had to wait more than 10 seconds for a docking request for a mid sized pad. I hear from friends that docking a Type 9 is a pain because you often have to wait for a pad, maybe there are more large ships or less large pads at stations?. There are many threads on the forum asking people to support open play and not play in solo mode. Surely improving docking wait times would encourage people to venture into open play more. We are not talking a major game changer here, just fixing a major annoyance for some people and removing an obstacle for more CMDR's in open play.

Seriously? I mean there is another port right across the main spacelanes, the Waggon does reasonable coffee, but I hear their food cartridges are a little mundane.

Did you try Blackbushe Landing? I know it is on the very far end of the system, that the port only opens one day of the week, and everyone agrees the commodities market is not what it once was, but the food cartridges are more varied and they have plenty of landing pads, (Independent coffee though, not sure how you feel about that).

If you have faction with Costa and don't mind a jump with a bit of supercruise time, they opened up a new concession at the Farnborough Gate Coriolis, might get equivalent prices there. Just watch out for the system security vessels, turns out the Farnborough Gate port is often in lockdown due to smuggling activity.

YMMV.

I tried the Farnborough Gate port, but came across the same issue that the OP came across - there were no spare docking bays! I tried docking in this establishment called "TK Maxx", but they said they already had enough junk cluttering their aisles - how rude!

I've tried Blackbushe Landing - I find their food capsules to be of an... unusual nature - and I'm not entirely sure they're made of what they claim to be. However, I was able to find a fine establishment that sold 'dee-vee-dees' of films that have yet to be released (time-travel?) by a pirate. In fact, I think most of the npcs are pirates.

Think I might try 'Tally Ho' station in Eversley. Surely an establishment which uses such a moniker will be friendly to passing pilots?

Going to stick my head above the parapet here.

Assume I land at an outpost having completed the last run of the night, and I want to be able to pick up a mission immediately when I play again next time. I land, enter hangar, log off. Am I now blocking a pad? Surely if I log off in the void, then I vanish - see numerous threads about pulling the plug/exploits. Does this not happen to those who log off when hangared?

Note: I will change my log off behaviour from now if I am blocking, but I knew no better (to be honest I thought the pads could have a number of ships hangared in stacks below them! Imagination, wonderful thing)

There should be no reason to change your behavior in this matter. Once you log off, whether from the pad or the hangar, you leave the game instance so you are no longer there. Whether you left while on the pad or not, when you load the game again, you'll be in the hangar in a totally new instance.

Its a persistant universe out there. First come first serve. This is a problem for those who come last, but... isnt that life in a shell?

I cant think of any "solution" to this that would not be utterly immersion breaking. Other than reworking landingpads to hold more than one ship - but that would just be pushing the limit. NPC's are also using them.
