If you want an engineer mod, and aren't in the minority that enjoy every single aspect of Elite, you will have to grind for it. No way around it. Me? I don't like SRV rock hunting. But I have to do it if I want an FSD upgrade. Others will have other elements they do or don't enjoy, but if you want to get a few engineering mods you are almost guaranteed to have to do EVERYTHING. For a looooong time...
