ed in surround..

I'm guessing the FOV slider would need to go to 300% to completely remove any distortion for 3 monitors. Is that how it works?

I only really use them for peripheral vision so it doesn't matter that it's distorted. Definitely increases the immersion factor big-style. Especially when you enter a station and you're SURROUNDED by ships and lights and landing pads.

I was looking to do this a while back but really wanted monitors with a slim bezel so they don't get in the way so much. I would love to see someone bring out a monitor that has no bezel so three can be put together with almost seamless continuity, even better if they were curved screens as well.

Agreed.. no matte rhow large monitors get, there's no repalacement in sims (ed, sc, Mech warrior, to name a few ) of having three monitors, with the outside ones angled. curved is better, but I not the same. We need full glass monitors.

I use the three monitors for work -- much easier to review research and draft when I have docs side by side, I found it easier neck-wise to scan left to right than up down. Found out later that it's also fantastic for games

I had a northgate omnikey for years, until I spilled coffee on it --- I found the one in the pic on ebay, in the box, still in plastic, with the original 3.5" floppy install.

But if you REALLY want to see oldschool, check out the nixie tubes in my desktop-- just finished building this rig a few months ago:

Are those IN-1 tubes?

Very nice.

I've got 6 or so of them scattered around my desk :D

Not really. I changed the FOV setting in C:\Users\*YOUR NAME*\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\Settings.xml
from 60 which is default - and this is the slider in game maximum, to 70. Doesn't act as intended. It makes you sit further back in the cockpit and the main interface and text then becomes very small. Tried it at 90, since that's supposed to be the number which gives you 150 degree field of view, then the interface/text is tiny. Stretch is still apparent at the sides. Plus, the sound has now gone weird, the engine boost and laser sounds have virtually disappeared/become muted. Don't know if this is ship specific or how it's supposed to work. Frontier????

If yo want to reduce the distortion on the side screens you will need to reduce the FoV, but that will have the effect of making your viewpoint seem too close to the windscreen. I suppose if you had really massive monitors and sat close to them it might work. I find it's best to stop worrying about it and live with it. Head tracking helps, you keep your eyes on the centre screen and just let the sides be your peripheral vision, unless you want to zoom in on something.
