ED needs better Anti-aliasing.

If you use a 4K monitor, AA is unnecessary since the crawlies are so small as to be almost invisible...

It depends on how sensitive you are to the jaggies. I have a 4K monitor, and in ED, the jaggies are highly objectionable to me. I've become somewhat accustomed to them, but early on, it almost forced me to quit this game. Because ED uses deferred rendering, the standard AA techniques aren't available. Supersampling helps somewhat, but my framerate is too low for acceptable play and even then the jaggies are very annoying.

The only technique which could actually help would be Temporal Anti-Aliasing: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...like-this-would-be-awesome-in-Elite-Dangerous

I had tried reshade in the past and it didn't help. I'll try the new version. Thanks for the tip.

I always have Anti-Aliasing off in my games. Kinda pointless IMHO.

My eyes give better AA results, naturally/biologically :)

I only see them in VR. If you use a 4K monitor, AA is unnecessary since the crawlies are so small as to be almost invisible...
This is objectively wrong, since no AA means you still see jaggies because there (still) is no blending between high contrast pixels/ edges. Hence ED (and other games) looks smoother on FullHD LCD downsampled from UHD than in native resolution on an UHD LCD. It might be less sharp though.

@topic: Yes, a MSAA+A2C (aka transparency AA) would be great, especially for VR. DICE delivers this with their Frostbite Engine, too, despite having a Deffered Renderer. Their MSAA approach also applies super sampling but only for certain image content. So it is very efficient and effective. I would really like to see that implemented into Cobra.

So, just put your glasses off before playing? ;-)

Seconded. The jaggies make the game less pretty and less immersive, cause that gives away that it's just a game when looking at screenshots.
