ED + Oculus + Kinect body tracking? (or similar)

I've not really seen much discussion about this, perhaps for good reason, but does anyone else think this could potentially bring presence to another level?

I've not used kinect so perhaps there's a latency issue that would ruin things, but I'd love a couple of points of articulation on the pilot model to be mapped to my movements. Even just arms and legs would be cool. I find it slightly creepy when my hand moves off the stick and I didn't move it. And its a bit jarring lifting my arm off the stick and the pilot model staying stuck there.

Potentially easy win for immersion with relatively little work required?

It would add a lot to immersion but, the added costs and setup would be an issue. I'd rather have a much wider fov, personally.

Yeah not having one I don't know that the additional cost to me would be worth it. As a feature though it struck me it might not be that hard to implement.

One week in, I'm actually really satisfied with the fov. Probably because the whole experience exceeds my expectations to greatly! I genuinely had no idea it would feel so much like being in the game. I was expecting it to be like a 3d screen with head tracking. Give me a month...

haptics for basic limb movements will be standard in VR soon. Maybe not this year.. probably not even next... or the next. But maybe the year after that. Or the one after that.

this all becoming more like Better Than Life with every post I read about OR and the possibilities it has.

Not that im saying I wouldn't want it but all for myself of course but we must all remember to eat and leave the game every once in a while.

As it is I think somethings taken ten minutes and half an hour has passed..

Haha. Stuff I've been seeing / thinking about with multiple 3d cameras / kinects + oculus + feedback devices we're surprisingly close to BTL already. Amazing to think two weeks ago I had no idea. Literally had no clue it would be this convincing.

Of course I'd like to think I would be Cat but I know that really im Rimmer.

Is it because I always do a full Rimmer before take off...?
