Release ED ToolBox - A companion app

You can use the database manager to run this query:

Code:
SELECT system_name FROM user_visited_systems

You can then export the data to a CSV file which will include one visited system name per line.

The username for the database is root, password is in the data/server_config.inc.php file. Database is elite_log.

Awesome, thanks to this email and a bit of poking around in The Visited Star cache thread I've now successfully imported my EDToolbox list of visited systems into the in-game galaxy map!

VR Users Note:

Some of us like to pop back to the desktop to make edits, or read something, to want to use a 3rd parts support app like this one that likely has a component that you want to get to but can't when in VR mode.
(ToolBox then can use F8/F9 to get the desktop up and then back to ED)
We have a work-around now that uses a Virtual Desktop or Big Screen (free) with ED:

Hi Walter

I'm was hoping that I could request a feature for a future release.

I mostly use ED Toolbox for the Commanders Log feature. Essentially keeping notes on my ED activities. Currently, only the last five entries are kept on the main home page and the only way of viewing older entries is to access them through the data point page. You then have to go to the edit mode to read the entry. I currently have over a hundred log entries so this process is somewhat clunky.

Would it be possible to add 'paging' for the log entries on the main home screen? You could then see the full entries in pages of say five or ten at a time. I would obviously also welcome any option that makes the Commanders Log browsing process easier.

Hello, I've just installed ed toolbox and trying to get speech to text working with VA, however, I'm getting 404 Not Found on article URL's, example; http://localhost:3001/Marvin/galnet1.txt. Everything seems to be running with the database, I can click on GalNet news in the browser and see the articles, just can't access directly via the URLs http://localhost:3001/Marvin/galnet1.txt. , galnet2.txt. etc. Any ideas?

**** Okay, sorry , disregard!! I restarted services and it's working now! Thanks for this awesome app :) ******

Hey Walter, this reminds me. Any chance of extending the number of recent Galnet articles? Perhaps 5 or 6?

Quick question; anyone else having API trouble recently? Mine's saying it's connected but isn't showing my credits/rank totals at all... Tried the usual methods of reconnecting but it doesn't seem to want to work properly... Is there an entry in the database I can just clear to force it to reconnect, or is this a case of Frontier changing the API with 2.2 and not telling us?

Yes. I have the same problem, for some days now and i'd like to know how to fix it...

p.s. Walter, thank you for this app!

EDIT: Is there a way to disable the (twice) daily systems data update and do it manually or once per day?

Great tool, this one!

One suggestion: it would be very cool to add the ability to integrate an audio stream, so as to be able to listen to Radio Sidewinder or Lave Radio directly from the webclient. Maybe have the ability to select or cycle between radio stations, add more stations to "the dial", etc. That would be really cool if it were possible.

Inara has a webclient music player on its front page that you can pop out into a window. Has Sidewinder, Hutton and others. http://inara.cz

I've been using ED Toolbox for quite some time now, and loving it. It's always running in my second monitor when I play. Last night however, after watching a YouTube video, I downloaded and installed Captains Log (version 2.0 Beta 6), and got it up and running. It's working fine, but for some reason ED Toolbox constantly shows "Location Unavailable". I've followed the advice under the "Common Issues" for ED Toolbox, and have verified that ED Toolbox is pointed at the correct Log folder (showing the latest System I jumped to), and have also verified that verbose logging is enabled. I've even re-installed ED Toolbox, but to no avail.

Other Third Party apps (EDDI, EDMC) are still reading the log file correctly. I know you're totally not to blame for something another person's app buggered up, but any advice you could give me would be great....Elite: Dangerous without ED Toolbox just won't be near the same.

I don't know if it's relevant, but i had the same problem and found 2 files in the Logs folder that do not belong there.
I deleted them and everything worked normally again. I hope it helps.

Sweet, I'll have to check that out once I get home. How did you tell which ones didn't belong?

EDTB isn't very smart when it comes to determining which log file is the one to read. Go to the log folder (something like 'C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Frontier_Developments\Products\elite-dangerous-64\Logs'), sort the files by name so that the newest netLog files are first. If the first file in the list isn't the newest netLog file, you can move it somewhere else and that should clear things up.

Cheers

I found two files that I believe Captain's Log wrote to the Log file (I had mistakenly told Captain's Log to put the database files it created in my Log folder), and plucked them out.

I've run into another problem however: When I run ED Toolbox, I get the 'Install ED ToolBox 1/2" screen, and it asks me to click to set up the necessary database tables. When I click, the browser tells me "Could not connect: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)"

Now in my previous attempts to fix the problem, I had downloaded fresh installs of ED Toolbox, and put them in new folders. Could the fact that I didn't uninstall the other ED Toolbox installations be causing this problem?

I recommend you uninstall EDTB and install again to the original folder.
