ED won't launch - Unhandled Exception: the image data generated an overflow during processing

I just installed ED after a 3 year gap. It used to play fine on my laptop but on my desktop it's throwing up this error as soon I have logged into my Frontier account. I briefly see the ED launch screen with 'Play' button etc and then I get Unhandled Exception: The image data generated an overflow during processing.

So far I've tried re-installed .net framework (ver 4.8.1). Turning off my Geforce Experience overlay. and obviously rebooting my machine. Also tried launching via the ED launcher directly and not via Steam.

It's ED: Horizons with launcher version: 1.76926.10

Windows 10
Ryzen 3600
GTX 960
16gb ram
50gb+ free space on M.2 ssd
DirectX 12

Any help appreciated.

Second try this:

Thank you for your suggestions. I've tried them and unfortunately, still getting the same error. Can you think of anything else to try?

Presumably you had steam verify all the ed files? its a launcher issue but I don't believe its net framework related and you already tried the display colour settings fix.

If not already then validate the game files via steam, try a clean install of ed if that still fails and by clean i mean remove everything, files and folders making sure to get the users/app data and also the frontier folder in saved games so you remove all traces of elite, personally i would get shot of elites reg entries too but then i dont recommend that to the casual user.

If all else fails get hold of Fdev support, for all their foibles, misgivings and normal (for business) schenanigans one thing that can be said is that Fdev support is amazing! hands down some of the best in gaming land

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but unfortunately still not working.

I also uninstalled GeForce Experience, disabled anti-virus/firewall for good measure.
I've took your advice and submitted a support ticket.
