When you buy a voice it selects the Text Speaker application also but you can deselect it. After the purchase you get a link to the file for instance Emma.exe. Running this starts the installer looking like this:

I bought Amy about 2 years ago for € 39,-- (from Harpo.com) and Emma in October 2016 for € 29,-- (from Deskshare.com)

Before buying Amy I tried the evaluation download and that expired after a month IIRC so you could also try it out first (I see on Deskhare you can also download the evaluation version)

Thanks. Wish I had known about this before I spent the $45 for the Amy voice, but I'm not unhappy with my purchase.

Thanks again.

Well, the reason I ask is that the link to Text Reader that he provided listed each voice as $29.95 USD. Which makes me think that you have to use the Text Speaker application. And Astra sounds just like Ivona's Amy, just a bit louder with a bit more reverb. And that can be done with audio editing software.

As I said in my previous post you don't need Text Reader.

I think Astra is indeed made using Amy. The other voicepacks like Orion, Vega, etc are recorded real people. The advantage to have Amy is you can make your own responses (text to speech) while Astra only has pre-programmed responses. Using them both feels like you have two sisters in your crew :)

As for EDDI not keeping track of the number of visits, that suggests that you have a problem with your %APPDATA%\EDDI\EDDI.sqlite file. I recommend removing it and refreshing from EDSM (assuming that you have set up the EDSM responder) and see if that helps.

Ah legend mate, this worked a treat. Sol and a couple of others are fine now. Weird.

It saddens me to report that the latest Astra release from hcs voices does not work with eddi! They release a plugin that seems to conflict and crash va!
Since all the commands i use requires astra i had to stop eddi for now... such a sad day!

I don't have access to the HCS voice packs, so am unable to look at this. Would it be possible for you to raise this as an issue with HCS?

I did! they're responses where for the lack of better word... Empty!

Maybe you can get a look at the windows crash report on the link above! thank you!

That error generally shows up when there are multiple copies of the same plugin in the Apps directory. One of the common ways that this happens is that a new version of a plugin is installed in a subdirectory of the old directory, or a plugin DLL changes its name. Take a close look at your Apps directory to see if there is something like this has happened. If you want to be sure then your best bet is to uninstall the programs, remove the directories in the Apps directory, and install them again.

Just had Eddi folder and now the hcs folder in the app dir! Which makes me think they have some api from eddi in there? I can tell the crash occurs when im arriving at a new system and eddi kicks the system overview information...

It's possible. What do the contents of the HCS directory look like?

Of course! These are the contents of their plugin folder

no there are no eddi files in there!!!! (or atleast not that we have put in)

I can absolutely 100% assure you that HCS have written these plugins ourselves and no code or anything else from EDDI was used.

I am using eddi alongside the HCS plugins and they do not create any form of conflict. As far as I can tell tulextreme has messed with the install and broken it himself. He's been extremely rude on our forums for absolutely no reason at all. If he politely asks for help then we'll certainly figure out his problem the best we can!

I was wondering, is there was a way to have EDDI play a .WAV sound file as part of the scripts?
I've scanned through as much as I could from the 88 pages but haven't seen it mentioned. I would like to add a few warning sounds when taking excessive heat damage or a fine/bounty is incured. The voice gets drowned out in the noise of battle. I dont use Voice Attack, just EDDI.

This might be possible with SSML but will require some tweaks to EDDI. I'll take a look and see if it works.
