If you want to use EDD voice control then you need to be running EDD, yes. If you already have VA then you don't need it unless you're looking to replace that. Settings panel allows you to turn the EDSM/EDDB data pulls off or limit them to areas of the galaxy you are interested in to reduce bandwidth.

If you want to be the first to submit to EDSM then, obviously, you have to submit to EDSM. This has no impact on in-game tags.

Settings tab again, uncheck the 'Enable Screenshot Conversion' box and EDD won't do anything with your screenshots.

OK.. Understand the Voice Pack VS Voice Attack and unless the Voice Pack supports the same kinds of complex macros I can do with VA, then I won't want it.

This video I hope will demonstrate my confusion on this. I can find no way in the EDH setting to do what this video shows that I can do through EDD... The file that was created said that I had uploaded 1900+ systems to EDH but 81 were duplicates when I started and ran EDH. This is a question for me since EDD shows that I do have a FIRST DISCOVERY,, but when I am in the game and I go to that system, I am NOT listed as FIRST DISCOVERER on anything in the system.

They are two separate things. You can be the first to discover and submit to EDSM even if someone has already got a "first discovered by" tag in the game and vice versa.

The game's map only shows you as "first discovered by" after you have cashed in that exploration data - it has no bearing on the EDSM website at all.

On the VA question, as many programs as you like can be listening to voice input from your mic. They can't interfere with each other.

EDD supports voice recognition and binding to frontier keys, with over 150+ commands, out of the box. There is no configuration required of it, no macros, no manually inputting your key bindings in, automatic recognition of key binding changes. Its all configured for you, unlike VA which unless you buy another add on needs manual configuration.

I wrote Free Voice Control because really the amount of code you need to do this is trivial on top of what windows supplies. Its about two files worth.

So, out of the box it will default to QWEASD flight controls and does not recognize any joystick/hotus keys even if they are assigned through the in game OPTIONS>CONTROLS menu.
The QWEASD though can be re-programmed by re-assigning them through the in game OPTIONS>CONTROLS menu.
Can the words use to activate the commands be customized like this?

It fully configurable, via the action editor.

Its up to the user if they want it, or not. That's why its an add-on pack. Anyone is free to use whatever they want. I'm not their boss (just as my wife tells me all the time that i'm not the boss of her).

At this point, I suggest we just move onto the next subject ;-)

Thank you robbyp, Finwen and the rest. This programme continues to improve and I find it completely invaluable.
A thought for DD. Try to resolve your problems yourself rather than asking a continuous stream of questions. You might find it extremely satisfying! Good Luck.

Can I just add that our latest API, is meant to avoid software using it to update their code :)
Everything is done on our side, new events, changes and all, so we do not require anymore updates ^^
