Release EDEB - Elite Dangerous Exploration Buddy

This is my preferred app to use when exploring, especially for bio. Thank you.

I would love to be able to reduce a lot of the blather from it, though. I assume this is available in Preferences, but I cannot get the Preferences window to open anywhere visible, and trying to use Windows-ArrowKey to move it doesn't work.

If you click the icon on your taskbar for the window, then hold ALT, hit the spacebar, then while still holding ALT hit M that should then make it so any offscreen dialog is moveable with the arrow keys, then move the mouse and you should be able to bring it to the screen.

Awesome - thank you very much. I had tried all sorts of things but hadn't previously tried releasing the space bar before hitting M.

A couple of additional features I would like, but I have no idea if they are possible:

  1. Notification if the system contains a particular star class
  2. Notification if the system contains any Notable Stellar Phenomena

I just wanted to say this is far and away my favorite app for elite.

I did have a question: Are the planets supposed to update showing bio/geo once I've scanned the planet via FSS?

It doesn't for me, and even though I am able to see on the system map which planets have biologics or geological sites after the FSS, buddy only does so once I do a surface scan.

Is this by design, or maybe a limitation of the log files generated by elite?

That's odd, it definitely shows it for me from a FSS scan. If you have a specific system where this has happened, I can try to test it. Assuming it's in range, of course.

I'm way inside the bubble, pretty much every system does this.

Sorry, it's working! Not sure what was going on. Probably user error. I love this program so much!

Okay, sorry after some more testing I've finally narrowed down the issue - this occurs when I enter a system and get a full 100% scan from the d-scanner without having to use FSS. At that point exploration buddy won't report biologics anywhere, even if there are some. I have to go surface scan to get them to show up.

In systems where I have to discover the body's via fss, exploration buddy acts as expected, and reports biologicals as soon as I scan a planet with FSS.

To be clear these are systems within the bubble that have already been scanned by many other commanders and so I would assume the data for the planets would already be in EDSM, but I still just shows question marks for if there are biologicals or geological readings on a planet.

Any ideas?

Just wanted to throw this out there, You can add more voices for the text-to-speech:

I did this last week and it has been a vast improvement over the default Windows voices (Win10). Being a generated voice, it still has quirks, but far more pleasing than the original ones.

Hey Panostrede,

I really like your app, I've been running it this past week after I came back to Elite and it's exactly what I wanted to write myself after my previous exploration trip.

I have one request tho. I play in VR and put your app (the main window, not the "HUD window" one) in a virtual window to display on top of the game, so fiddling with the app to scroll down/up the lists sucks. I know you added hotkeys in latest release: would it also be possible to add hotkeys for scrolling displayed lists up/down? I could then map them to my hotas.

Imo this would rock for this use case, as your app already doesn't require any inputs from me to function perfectly as I'd like, at least as long as the system I'm in isn't too big :p

I would code this in myself if this was open-sourced, but it doesn't seem it is. Or is it, and I just can't find it?
