EDO discount on Steam/Epic, but not in Frontier store?

You can link also standalone ED installation with Steam, buy there Odyssey dlc with discount and you will have it available also when running standalone game. I asked frontier support previous year when purchased edo for my old pc account. I use two such accounts, both running as standalone game when I play on my gaming PC and via Steam when I play on laptop via GFN service. In both cases I purchased Odyssey DLC on steam during discounts.

no steam client has to be running if you start the launcher directly from the directory. I've been doing that for years.

This guy 👇 knows it. And if a new player buys the game from Steam (or Epic, fwiw) they are tied to that platform and can authenticate and run ED only if they have the appropriate Steam/Epic clients running and authenticated. Hence buying directly from Frontier provides the best flexibility

Only true if you bought before April 2019.

Nice discount. However not low enough (yet) for me to buy EDO. And I want to see the Sys Map, Gal Map, and Outfitting show all the previous info it does in EDH.

Try to have 2 commanders on Steam and tell me how simple it is
Create new gmail address, create new steam account, buy ED, create new FD account and link them. Seems fairly simple to me.

If you want to get slightly more complicated and keep your data files separate create new Windows user to use new account with.

i have one steam account and it's enough
then i got elite on epic - and i can dual log both of them without any issues.

when i will transfer my xb account, i will get meself a plain Frontier account - saves me the complications of juggling 2 steam accounts - and i dont even know if i can dual log 2 elites each on its own steam accounts, but i will certainly be able to triple log steam+epic+frontier if needs arise

ok, that's true in my case.

yea, but you're not a new player

By the way, you can buy the game on Steam, then make a link in the file to the launcher and then play the game without starting Steam.
and this is no longer true for 3 years already, so i think it's important that potential new Elite players know the limitations of buying Elite on Steam/Epic compared to buying directly from Frontier
