EDProfiler - A New Display Switcher/Robust Settings Profiler/Switcher/Detector!

Have you loaded up The Guardians yet and changed a graphics setting manually?
Hi there, yes I have been running ver 2.2 for a couple of days. I have made many changes in config trying to optimize it.

One interesting thing though. When I started it today throgh Oculus home, it updated again. Now when I'm checking, the version is 2.2.01. Maybe that's why. I wunder what they have done.

Answer: No, the default files don't have anything for SS and HMD, so whatever they were on before you hit those buttons, they stay on.

p.s. the HMD value applies the OculusDebug tool itself, so you don't need to use the Oculus debug tool anymore. Well, that doesn't have 1.2, but you can use 1.25.

That will be great, except that the "HMD Image Quality %" doesn't seem to have any effect for me. The in-game option works just fine. Note that I tried lots of combinations to ensure I was testing correctly. The "Super Sampling" setting in EDProfiler works just fine for example. I've been using the Performance HUD to check. With EDProfiler SS=1.00 and HMD=2.00 it looks exactly the same as SS=1.00 and HMD=1.00, and the FPS are still 90 for both with lots of headroom. I completely restart ED for each test. So at present I can only change Pixels Per Display using the OculusDebugTool (or in-game), which is still no big issue.

These are my current settings (I have a 1080), I also use ASW, which REALLY is amazing (it has its downsides that are pretty annoying too, but they aren't bad enough to

I really want to use ASW, but the instructions to enable it here are not doable. I meet all the requirements but Step 2 is "Navigate to HKLM\Software\Oculus VR, LLC\LibOVR." which doesn't exist in my registry. I'm reluctant to simply create that path.

I'd be very interested to know how you got ASW working?

Update: Having just performed a forced windows update, I tried the HMD setting again and this time it worked. I suspect it only doesn't work when the OculusDebugTool is already open or has already been used previously. I remember the OculusDebug tool wasn't actually running when I did the previous tests, but I had certainly used it prior.

In short, please don't try to fix HMD, it's probably working as expected.

Thanks again for your great work on this software. Now... to try to get ASW working... :)

I've just done a clean install of ED with The Guardians via Steam, got my DK2 up and running, and then downloaded EDProfiler. It doesn't appear to be creating the EDProfiler folder in my Documents folder, and generating runtime exceptions at startup and when I try to load or save any profiles:

Ok guys, everyone who INSTALLED EDPROFILER FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2.2 and is getting the error about missing files (it's not installing the EDProfiler folder in My Documents)

I have now fixed the issue, it was a really stupid one. Please update, or uninstall and reinstall 2.2.0.4

I had this, run the setup 'as administrator' or I don't think it creates the folders or xml files. Saying that I also manually created the folders so not sure if this helped.

Still getting a Jit Error , using latest , uninstalled the other first. Ran the Setup.exe as admin , as soon as it was finished , Microsoft .Net Framework box popped up
If I click continue the Profiler opens

Last ^^^ Jit has been Emailed

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I had this, run the setup 'as administrator' or I don't think it creates the folders or xml files. Saying that I also manually created the folders so not sure if this helped.

Nope, it wasn't that, it was a dodgy bit of code. I have updated the app and that problem won't occur anymore

To anyone who installs EDProfiler and click on the desktop icon and nothing happens :

I had some issues with my PC Windows 10 which I resolved but I uninstalled the EDProfiler. When I went to reinstall it from Dr Kaii's wedsite I clicked on the link on the desktop which was labelled "EDProfiler - 1" and nothing happened. After much mucking around and a deepish dive this is a clickonce application which means it doesn't install into the program files directory. You find the config stuff in "My Documents" but the actual installation is located in :
C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0....and there are further long folder names. hunt around until you find the EDProfiler.exe. Now right click on this file and select properties. at the bottom you will see an "unblock" button. Click on this and click OK. Now when you click on this EDProfiler.exe file it should run and might give an unhanded error but this is discussed in this thread as a known and unrelated issue. The link on the desktop should also be renamed to be the same as the exe "EDprofiler" and you should be back up and running. Hope this helps someone. I haven't seen this issue mentioned before but some people have said "doesn't work" so maybe its this.

UPDATE : you might have installed the setup many times so you might see lots of folder in here. I deleted the 2.0 folder and all subfolders then reinstalled. This then gave me a single set of files to look at. Windows might not let you delete just the 2.0 folder you might have to go into each folder and delete from the bottom upwards. I recommend this to give you a clean install.

FURTHER FURTHER UPDATE : This is a great tool and thanks to Dr Kaii for doing this !!!!!

Looks nice and works out of the box over here. Thank you! Is there a way to make the current profile the "default 2d" or "default vr" profile? If I detect current settings, I just can save them as a completely new profile, not as default. Or am I missing something?

Yeah, no way I am afraid :) Was just wondering that myself.
