EDProfiler - A New Display Switcher/Robust Settings Profiler/Switcher/Detector!

Something different: setting the profile seems to work now. However, when reading back a profile setting, I get some unreasonable values in some of the numerical entries (e.g. a refresh rate of 60000.02 Hz). I had a similar issue with EDDiscovery, possibly stemming from different decimal separator values for different language settings (Germany uses a "," for the decimal separator and a " " for the thousand's separator when needed).

But still, much better that doing everything by hand.

Give me all the examples please, email me a screenshot. EDProfiler handles regional issues like that like a pro, but this is certainly an interesting problem

So many people asking for external functionality I might add the ability to save some .bat files to a profile to run when you hit apply. That way you can just make some bat files to do the extra things you want to do and I don't have to worry about it!

If this ever comes about then it seems from a bit of research that the best way to switch audio device is with a little downloadable utility called nircmd ...

an external source said:
You can use Nircmd with the commands:

nircmd setdefaultsounddevice "Speakers" 1

or

nircmd setdefaultsounddevice "Headphones" 1

You need to make sure you use the exact name of your audio devices as listed under Playback Devices (right click the sound control in the system tray). It may be easier to rename them under Properties to simpler names, especially if the names clash in any way.

The 1 at the end of the command signifies "Default Device". Using 2 signifies "Default Communications Device".

I'm not vouching for that software mind you, just saying that it come up several times in my research as the easiest way to do this.

Good news everyone...

I got tired of the profiler software giving me a crash window on each boot, so I dropped into troubleshootjng mode. I knew it wasn't the video card or drivers because I'd replaced my 980TI with a Titan X-P and upped the GPU drivers to the latest version. Still had the same issue.

Went through all my installed programs and uninstalled everything I was either not using or rarely using. Turned out to be the ASUS programs that had come with my motherboard. Not sure which one on this list was the issue, but removing these sped up my machine as well as an added bonus.

ASUS AI Suite II V2.04.01
ASUS Ai Charger+ V3.00.08
ASUS Update(EZ Update)
ASUS DIGI+ Power Control
ASUS EPU V1.03.22
ASUS Fan Xpert V1.01.15
ASUS My Logo V1.03.06
ASUS Probe II V1.00.51
ASUS System Information V1.02.17
ASUS TurboV EVO V1.01.53

No issues with profiler since. FYI.

Yeah earlier versions of AI Suite and associated software were notorious for causing issues with Windows and other programs. I uninstalled everything and now only have AI Suite 3 (incl. DIP5) installed and nothing else. I only use it for the Fan Xpert module. No more weird system behaviour (just one example: sometimes the PC would not turn off at shutdown). The software also seemed to behave better once I upgraded from W7 to W10, updated to the latest BIOS version plus they have fixed a few bugs with fan control in the latest version of the software.

Drkaii,

Quick question, where are you storing the location of the E.D. executable? (for launching, after your app asks you on 1st launch) The reason I ask is I moved E.D. to a different drive and I get an unhandled exception because it's looking on the wrong drive for the graphics presets.

I looked in all of the sub folders of 2.0 under apps but couldn't find anything but the default c: drive location. I also looked in the folder located in My Docs.

Thanks!

Nevermind (won't let me edit the original message)

I found it in D:\Users\<me>\Documents\EDProfiler\Defaults\Paths.xml

EDProfiler problem after ASUS BIOS Update

My first problem with EDProfile which I have found to be a great utility.

EDProfiler loads into the Task Bar but the window doesn't appear. Selecting the icon generates a very small window with text too small to read. This problem occurred after my ASUS motherboard did an automatic BIOS update yesterday. I tried reinstalling EDProfiler but it made no difference. I have been using GPU Tweak II without any problems. Are there any other ASUS Apps I should be removing - any suggestions?

I had this problem, it's something to do with ClickOnce, just reinstall it a few more times. Try and clear out all the files from before. For me it worked after a roll back then a reinstall, happened one more time and worked after a single reinstall. For some others it takes a few reinstalls and to be honest I haven't got to the bottom of it. Good luck!

Read works for the most part, there were 1 or 2 things that seemed off to me. Apply I'm still experimenting with...

Is there a way to just delete everything and start from scratch?
