EDProfiler - A New Display Switcher/Robust Settings Profiler/Switcher/Detector!

Hi all!
I am new to VR environment. Running DK2 1.3 Home following drkaii's instructions.
Unfortunately I cant run the ED, here is the message I get once it starts:

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Thanks in advance, hope you can help me.

Hi all!

I hope I won't sound like a complete but I would really like your help guys! :)

I've downloaded the EDprofiler just to find myself lost in front of it, I'm quite new to ED and even newer in VR. I recently got an Oculus CV1 and I really love how ED looks in VR but I also have trouble reading text and I also feel the general quality of it could be better, I hope at least. :)

My specs are:
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4440 CPU @ 3.10GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.1GHz
RAM: 8GB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970

If someone could help me with what I could add in the EDprofiler based on my specs I would be forever grateful. :)

The one thing I tried was to change the HUD color to green but nothing happened, still orange so I'm definitely doing something wrong. Also, I've installed ED trough the oculus software, not steam (I couldn't figure out how to run it with oculus through steam).

I'm sorry for the many questions and thank you in advance!! :)

Does any error come up when you try to apply the HUD colour in the app?

As for settings, HMD Image Quality will make things clearer, even just 1.25, so try that and play with other settings until you get smooth performance. Shadows are hard on the GPU so turn that down if need be maybe

Dr.Kaii, I've noticed an old (unreported) issue and a new issue.

The new issue is that I can no longer set the FOV to 200. In the previous version, the FOV box highlighted in red, but I was allowed to use the setting. It's not a huge issue yet, but we'll need it for the Pimax 8K and your tool is the only way I know to do that (since it's not settable to 200 in-game).

The other (old) issue is that when I try to create my own custom HUD colorset, the blue channel is always set to blank. This triggers an "unknown exception" when you invoke the HUD color editor.

Thanks a lot for your answers.:) I didn't get any errors when I tried that it just didn't work but, as I said, I'm not very good with this stuff :s I'll try it again tonight, along with the quality settings and I'll get back to you. :)

Thank you again!

Good evening!
Thank you for your reply and help, drkaii
Maybe it sounds weird, but unfortunately I do not have such a folder with ED profiles.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can not even launch elite, the error message pops up.
I have tried to reinstall it several times and NET Framework as well but no luck.:S
Thanks in advance.

Two quick queries following update to the latest version.

1) I'm pretty sure (need to double check this) that the Jet Cones setting in EDProfiler is showing as "Low" for an existing profile (or when detecting current settings) even tho' the applied setting was High/Ultra (sorry, can't remember which is the highest available setting as I type this).

2) Re: "Volumetric Effects Quality" - what do people know about this (what in-game difference does it actually make? is it a GPU hog? would people recommend having this high or low for VR?). I may have imagined it but I wacked this up to Ultra for my 1080 2D profile and it seemed like I was struggling to maintain a solid 60fps (haven't tried it in VR yet).

If you can't launch Elite then that has NOTHING to do with EDProfiler. Can't stress that enough.

Just had a play around with this. For me it's fine for my existing profiles, but when I Detect Current Settings it always shows Jet Cones=Low even if I've just applied a profile where Jet Cones=High.

Did a little bit of reading. So this is to do with things like nebula, galactic dust, docking entrance steam, landing pad smoke, solar flares, etc (presumably stuff like geyser jets as well).

That actually sounds pretty cool. I might try to do some comparative videos and fps tests at each of the different settings. From a bit of googling surprisingly little has been written about this setting.

Thanks!

I found the file to do it manually (in case anyone wants to change the FOV manually): C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Graphics\Settings.xml

I did some experimentation last night and verified that FOV=200 still works in game.

Hi everybody, Hi Cmdr DrKai, ty for all your work.

Somebody have a good config for Elite+Oculus+1060 6GB?

Fly safe cmdrs!!

As promised I has a quick go at this today. Video starts with Volumetric Effects set to Ultra and I then try each of the other options. I have no idea if the docking entrance smoke is a good test of this setting. Personally I couldn't really perceive any quality difference between each of the settings. In Ultra I did notice a slight fps drop (fps displayed on-screen bottom-left) which went away in everything from High down. I've settled on using High for now.

Haven't tried in VR yet but I've tentatively set the quality for that to Medium.

I'm using a GTX 1080 with a 1920x1080 display. I forgot to screenshot my EDProfiler settings but essentially I'm using HMDQ=1.75, SS=1.0, Anti-aliasing=FXAA, pretty much everything else set to Ultra/High iirc.

Nice one Alec, i'll reduce my VR and Monitor settings down tonight!

Thanks Alex for you testing, I think I may well reduce my settings as I have a few set to ultra.

May be it will help with the occasional (mostly in station menus) judddering.

Doh! Seems I may have tested the wrong thing!

It's a lighting technique used to add multiple light sources to a rendered scene. Sunlight shining through your cockpit window making everything hard to see is probably the most obvious example in ED. It can GPU intensive if used extensively but I have no idea if this game does so.

How do I delete GUI colour presets I've created/saved?

Thanks

Something fishy going on here. Every time I tried to save new GUI colour values, the blue colour code is removed:

RCkaQXJ.jpg

If I pick a different colour code and return, the blue colour code is gone...

I tried creating several colour presets to figure out what was going on, hence the need to delete now... :)
