EdTracker Setup

Sorry to post steal or whatever the kids are calling it these days :)
But when using OpenTrack do you stop using the EDtrackerUI software ?

Thanks for your Open track profile I will give it a try. Can you tell me how to "dedicate" a port to the EDTracker.

Meanwhile I have reported the problem on Git Hub and am waiting a response. if I get nowhere I will try uninstall and reinstall as suggested by you and NeilF.

Thanks all for your help

PS ...PiLhEaD I love your address
Fingers crossed you get it sorted! It's a wonderful bit of kit! Especially for ED!

I can heartily recommend OpenTrack.

Here is my EdTracker set-up and OpenTrack ini file...

NOTE THE YAW AND PITCH SCALING

Hope this helps.
Your Yaw & Pitch scaling are "1.00" because all your ramping up/exponential behaviour is defined within the OpenTracker curves/mapping? (I imagine this is how mine is set up too)

No, OpenTrack is there to translate to TackIR inputs. You still need the EDtracker - it's just that most programs don't have an interface for EDTrack, but for VR or TrackIR.

As Navigare Necesse Est said, you'd run both programs... The TrackIR then fakes you having a TrackIR unit so any software that natively supports TrackIR allows the EdTracker to act as one.

So you'd run both programs, then run ED, and voila, ED will just work. No mapping of axis or anything necessary... It's very nice!

There's YouTube videos talking you through the setup in OpenTrack (which is simple). This might help too - http://www.edtracker.org.uk/index.php/using/opentrack

Note that the EDTracker can automatically start an external program alongside, so you don't have to start OpenTrack manually or bother with a .bat

It can? Maybe I'm running an old version of the EdTrackerUI? So you just point it to the OpenTrack.exe to also run, and voila?

What version do you have of the GUI? I can't recall if I have a Pro unit or not now, it's been so long.

Yes.

I setup EDtrackerUI as shown, and once everything is calibrated close down the software. Thereafter I only need to run EDtrackerUI when the EdTracker itself starts to drift.

Then start up OpenTrack (using my ini file as the basis for your own configuration if it's helpful) and once your're happy, fire up ED.

I do not run both EDtrackerUI and OpenTrack at the same time (I don't even think it's possible), OpenTrack has to be running when playing ED.

Hope this clarifies.

Off topic, and as Neil says, VoiceAttack is also super helpful.

Once you've found a USB port that EdTracker/Arduino works in, never use it for anything else, and preferably, don't unplug the EdTracker. This is what I did and do, and I've had no problems since getting it to work.

Hope that helps.

They happily work together, I keep them both to be able to re-center on the fly. That's something curious that happens on my setup that I never really understood. No matter how well centered and calibrated the thing is when I start the game, it will invariably drift off-center soon after looking around. That is until I stop Opentrack with game alt-tabbed, redo the auto-gyro bias and start Opentrack again. From that moment on, the EDTracker will only eventually drift after a long time or some very wide and fast head movements. Been like this from the start...

Wireless EDTracker user here. A total must have for the game.

OK all , I have decided to live with having to make sure EDTrack is not plugged in till after boot, I didnt like leaving it powered up all the time anyway.
Thanks for the suggestion to use OpenTrack as well , NielF and PiNhEaD, it is a great improvement on ED s built in headtracker.

I didn't expect them to work well together tbh.

You can also set hot-keys to recentre the view and turn off head tracking in OpenTrack - it works from within the game. I have them set to F1 and F2 (and mapped in VoiceAttack).

Completely agree re: EDTracker - would never want to play ED without it, and as I said before, I can see my beer at the same time!

Oh yes of course I have hotkeys to re-center in game, the problem is that I need to run the "Set Level" procedure (should be the auto-gyro bias on previous UI) after I started the game, or else I'll have persistent drifting. And it looks like something going on between EDTracker and Opentrack, because if I only use EDTracker it stays dead center without issues.
But it's hard to sacrifice the leaning movements, I prefer having to fiddle with Opentrack but having more natural head movements.

I am using a Delan Clip Fusion wireless, I am unable to find a good profile set up with OPENTRACK for Elite D can anyone help?
I am using Thrustmaster Hotas FCS (Thrustmaster 16000m stick and Throttle )

Due you want me to screen cap my OPENTRACK mappings/graphs across the three axis? ie: So I post the images here for you to base yours on?
