One thing I noticed with my thoroughly detailed testing of rebuy mechanics in Odyssey was that, they're exactly the same.
The other thing I noticed, is when you blow up your ship, and your computer shouts "Eject! Eject! Eject!".
You don't actually eject.
My suggestion is simply, when you're close to the ground (because we don't have EVA yet), and you get shot down (or in my case, crash), during the "eject" phase of dying, you should be able to quickly tap a button to actually eject.
(Same with the SRV).
Now imagine that, you just get shot down, and you eject and watching your ship disintegrate below you.
Then you're stranded on foot.
Ok I haven't thought that through yet...
So part 2 of this fantastic idea is,
You just call in an Apex.
Or
You can get a crew member to come pick you up in one of your ships.
Done! Serves absolutely no purpose.
But I like it.
