General / Off-Topic Elite better graphics than babylon 5.

It was amazing for the time. Think Babylon 5 was one of the ones done on the toaster using the Amiga if I remember correctly. Back in those days RAM was measured in MB. My current graphics card has 2,048 times the memory of my old Amiga 1200 and billions of times the processing power.

To be honest graphics today should be a LOT better by now. We are looking at over 20 years, if it wasn`t somewhat better by now I`d be asking why. And B5 is still respectable.

Just look at all those B horror mosnter movies, they still have so bad CGI it's amazing that this still exists to be used.

Well, I guess my phone has more processing power than Cray II, the supercomputer of the early 90s ...

About five years ago I moved from one side of Canada to the other. I watched B5 three times in a row. Show never gets old. There is something to be said about the quality of writing. Love it.

If you want a treat, watch B5: The Lost Tales. Story is a bit average but so worth watching for updated renders of familiar things like B5 and the ships of the races. Makes you wonder how good it would've looked if it was done today.

Pre-rendering scenes frame by frame can produce astounding results on modest hardware. Doing the same on the fly requires order(s) of magnitude more oomph.

Not that hard to remember, I still think today that B5 is amazing. :)

Come on. What does an orbis station remind you of? What does a clipper look like? Thargoids ships are very shadow like.

Someone at FD is a B5 fan. Unsurprisingly

Cuts both ways. If you watch carefully you'll see elite ship designs in B5. And the phrase "right on, commander jameson" used in a docking scene....
