As someone who is highly ranked with the empire and the feds as well as trade Elite I'm not familar with the Van Maanan`s Star permit, what's the story with it.

As someone who is highly ranked with the empire and the feds as well as trade Elite I'm not familar with the Van Maanan`s Star permit, what's the story with it.
Triple Elite, probably never ever load CQC.
CQC holds exactly 0% interest for me as well. There is not enough time in my limited "entertainment time" budget to do all the things I want to in Elite, and I doubt I'll ever even fire up the loading screen for that mode.

I can't say that it gives any benefits other than being another one ticked off the list;

IIRC The Van Maanan's lot were a bunch of isolationist, anti-tech, religious nutjobs in Frontier and FFE, who got carried over to E: D.

Just reached Elite in trade after 340+ hours played over the course of a year. Exploration is my next goal, just bought a Diamondback Explorer that I've been doing some engineering on to prepare for the journey.

I'm planning a trip to Sag. A, passing by jaques, sooner or later, not in an hurry anyway

I've said it elsewhere but I set myself a personal goal to reach Elite within a year of buying the game, to 're-earn' my Acornsoft badge. I achieved Combat Elite in August 2015 so went for the stretch goal of Triple Elite within a year. I managed it with a week to spare.
I now effectively roleplay as Ryder's dad - I mostly bum about, scavenging for scraps & trying not to die

I have no idea. I think I'm about half with with all of them, but I'm not too sure what all the ranks are.

I'm coming from a neutron field about 2,5 to 3 kylies from Jaques and suspect to have about 125mil data (currently Pioneer 1%)
Some of us had to do it the old way before Robigo, Sothis or the Cutter ever appeared. No doubt it has got a lot easier to make big credits.

I reached Trader Elite during one of the Clue CGs about a week ago, the next one will be Explorer.
