Thanks ED!

What about a fix for the 20 ton drop limit of cargo?

My profession is dead. I'm unemployed now as a pirate. Please fix this, please. :(

Nope...holding out for the consumer version. Can easily get affected by motion sickness so I want them to polish the experience as much as possible before I get one. Haven't even tried one out yet.
I too can be susceptible to it in a lot some games, thankfully elite isn't one of them. I think the main reason is because you're seated in the game, just like you're physically seated. So there's not a lot of disorientation (for me anyway).
But try it in a FPS where your body is moving one way, and your head is looking in other directions, and my brain says "what the ???"... and it's barf city.

Anyway, back on topic... yay patch! :)

Ok, thanks! Don't have a Oculus headset (yet) so I haven't kept up with the details.

Yes, but it seems odd that during this implementation phase where they are obviously prioritizing and fixing many many bugs and issues, that upgrading Oculus SDK support from the version they have been supporting since the beginning, to a version that's already out of date, would be a priority for today.

There is probably a good reason for it, but it's certainly an interesting headline for today's patch.

- Fix for the various intensities of RES locations. High, normal and low now mean high skill, medium skill and low skill, which they didn't before

Excellent. But skill in what? Combat, mining, conversation?

No, ED was previously running a revision of SDK 0.4. Rift users will already be running Runtime 0.5+ (some have got Runtime 0.6 working) which is backwards compatible with software running older SDKs.

The improvements SDK 0.5 brings to ED's engine will be amongst the changelog, see Oculus PC SDK 0.5.0.1 Beta: https://developer.oculus.com/history/archive/

Do you know where to download 0.5? I can only see 0.6 on Oculus website.

Can you guys confirm that rank progression is fixed (ranking missions are spawning at all)?
After trauma of doing about 100 missions on the weekend and not getting any single one of rank progression opportunity mission I really wish to know before launching the game again...

ah, the sensible option. would/should have guessed but im watching an old film to kill the time. still if you get the chance ''titans of space'' is a sweet demo and i havent known anyone get motion sickness from it , even those in a pub on my laptop.

still back to topic ... some needed fixes in this one , gj FD ... yeah i know i normaly only comment when i have -ive thing to say ;)

It certainly isn't fixed for some of us, who have done well over 100 missions since 1.3 without getting a single rank progression mission.

What version of the Oculus Runtime do I need to have installed on my system. Am currently still running 0.4.4. Can I upgrade to 0.6? or should I install 0.5.1? if so can someone provide me with a link to the "old" 0.5.1 version as the Oculus site only provides links to 0.6

No it doesn't.

https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/

Set "Platform: PC" and "0.5.0.1-beta" - or if you're feeling lazy, go to:

https://developer.oculus.com/downloads/pc/0.5.0.1-beta/Oculus_SDK_for_Windows/

Most people have been running 0.5.0.1 for ED more or less since it came out, as it works fine, despite the game apparently being built against 0.4.x- there aren't massive external changes between the two. Do not install 0.6.x, as ED doesn't support it properly yet.

I hope that helps.

Considering an Anaconda costs 145 million, that is about 3% of the ships original value. The insurance payment on a destroyed ship is 7,250,000.
To fully cover my Explorer Anaconda from 0% Integrity would cost 16MCr with the current ludicrous figures. That is more than twice the insurance rebuy.
But if I get smacked up in combat and creep home with no hull, then the repairs are way under the rebuy cost.

It is set up to enable people to not care what happens to their ships in PvP or PvE, and that distorts the gameplay - not in a good way.
