Elite: Dangerous Ambassadors needed for PAX South

Nonya HOW DARE YOU FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT PART ABOUT AUSTIN!!!! BEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Austin is where Texans corral invading Yankees so they don't hurt themselves - or others - with all the new found freedoms Texans enjoy such as (but not limited to):

1) Massive amounts of world-class BBQ

2) Guns

3) Cowboy boots made in Texas

4) More guns (because it's Texas!)

5) Large belt buckles

6) Even more guns! (Yee-haw! Texas!)

7) Cowboy hats worn in moderation

I'd go but work has me real busy here in the KC Metro. Every time I had to fly down to Dallas I always packed my pistol (CCH permit holder) and declared it.
Never lost a checked bag EVER this way. Also had some great convos with Texas-bred TSA folk about favorite firearms. Friendly folk in that there DFW airport.

In other words, Frontier, get some of your Brit-based folk visiting PAX South down to a range and rent some guns and shoot 'em. Get a taste of that Texas freedom.
(Same for some of you Yankees from the NE - to include Chicagoland - and you hippies from The People's Republic of Kalifornia)

Who knows - with Texas' great corporate tax environment you might even want to open an office there...

It's not that I forgot it's just that your Austin beer is easily forgettable in the face of more formidable beers.
I lived in Germany for 12 years. My Brother-in-law is an official judge at the beer comps in Colorado every year as well as a fine small-batch brewer in his own right. The boy grows his own barley and hops for cryin' out loud.
Your Austin micro-brew beer is weak-sauce compared to....just about everything else not mass-produced for the unwashed masses, really.

Shoot 'em? Who, the Brit-based folk? Seems a trifle harsh!

Yeah, I can see how that can be misconstrued....I meant shoot the guns, not the Brits.
Unless it's a particularly annoying employee in which case by all means show them some "Texas Justice".
Lots of wasteland out there in west Texas between San Antonio and El Paso in which to hide a body. I've stumbled across a few cartel body dumps in the White Sands Missile Range badlands in my time stationed at Ft. Bliss.
(Why they called the U.S. Government's most run-down military installation "Bliss" is beyond me...DoD has a sense of humor I guess)

Hmmm, suggesting dumping dead employees in the wasteland. . Me thinks that's one application on the "no" pile

Cool Story, Yep, you are SOOOooo right, Austin is crap for beer compared to the rest of the world. Nothing to see here.

If this is going to include after-hours beer tastings I might have to apply. After all, it's only a 5 hour drive (day trip almost) for me.
And about Austin beer represented well at the GABF (Great American Beer Festival) with a quarter of Texas' 16 awards in 2014. More if you consider it by area/region.

My fav is still my tiny local startup with the big beer taste. I'll have to bring some if chosen.

Wurz, I'd be willing to buy you a few rounds or bottles to prove you wrong if you ever make it to Austin, or if I ever get up to DFW area again soon. :)

Texas Stu is absolutely right. If you are comparing to the "mainstream" American beers of B.M.C. to that of beers from back home in the UK, you will be disappointed quickly, unless you look into breweries that AB has bought such as Goose Island with their Bourbon County series of beers. Personally, my top favorite brewery to this day is still Russian River from the West Coast, and then Jesterking from here in Austin(Dripping springs area to be exact)

OK, so I'll be first to admit there are plenty of peeps that have made bigger contributions to the community than I have. But I'd really love to go. And I have proven experience in the media, cos you guys put me on telly during the premier (when I was trying to make Mrs Federal-Dropship a widow ) I was in newsletter #51 too - I'm practically the face of Elite now!

You'd have to pay for my flights (from London) and accommodation though.

A location almost in my backyard?

You know, everything in Texas is bigger, including the drives. Houston to San Antonio is a bit over 3 hour trip, and us Texans consider a visit to the Alamo, or a night on the Riverwalk "a day trip".

I'm in. I'll send the email shortly.

Marcaigh gets my vote. I love Texas been there several times now but not sightseeing wish I could go :)

Sent my email in: I'm a game developer based down in South Texas, and would love to talk about the game to folks. Planning on being at the event either way, so hope to see some other Commanders there!

Arrrr, a vote from a scurrrvy pirate!

Next time you're in, you've got to make time for sightseeing.

Best parts about San Antonio is a walk around the Alamo, the various Missions that are scattered around, and then wrap it all up on a stroll down the Riverwalk for many choices of dinner, drinks, cigars.... oh man.

Very cool. I live in San Antonio and will be at Pax South with my sons on Sunday. Totally geeked y'all will be there.

Hey, I can't make it to PAX South because I'll be at MAGFest! But I'll definitely be an ambassador for you, there!
