Elite Dangerous base game has sold 3.5 million copies (plus other FDev games have sold well too)

Doesn't matter. The important fact is that it much less, than any other of mentioned above FD titles. Why develop ED, when developing another Planet Foo grants much more revenue, and requires much less efforts.
Are you sure about that? Try calculating the percentage of ED revenue in total FD revenue for each year since the release...

My 1050ti frequently hurts me when I try and play games on high or ultra thankfully this dead game Elite isn't too taxing on a 2yo low end GPU. I'm still weighing up the pro's and cons of getting a RTX card to play Minecraft (raytracing) or perhaps just get a 1070 or 1080.

Thanks for asking, it's nice to see people take the time to ask how others are.
In my case its the mixture of this that hurts me
A 1050ti
An 860k
And 8gb of 1600mhz ram

Both very niche games. I would have thought Snowrunner is even more niche than space pewpew.
There are a probably more offroad driving games than space pewpew ones (providing you ignore space spreadsheet emulators :) )
I couldn't see anywhere on the Snowrunner advertising mention of space flight and Beagle Point, nor any of having a developer or 2... perhaps I should look closer 👀

I will say that the Snowrunner / Mudrunner graphics / world modelling look very nice!

Try it, think you'd like it. I'm loving it so far. It has full mod support as well.

if elite is selling great and money is good at fdev, then why the lack of development in elite dangerous? Why the lack of creative content and the shuttering of what little they did have? Why is powerplay still unfinished after 4+ years?

The results appear to conflict with the finances. Are we to assume all of the effort we aren't seeing is being put in New Era? Because the lack of details about New Era and the year it took for fleet carriers is not encouraging.

I believe frontier recently got exclusive license to develop a Warhammer Age of Sigmar game.
I expect a lot of resources will go to that. Share price seems to be going up so they must be doing something right somewhere. I cant see it being elite our they wouldnt be removing stuff like galnet and community events.
