We're just over a week away from the launch of Odyssey on PC! How are you preparing for the big day?

While the team here are working hard, there are still things to look forward to this week in the world of Elite Dangerous:

Tuesday

Supercruise News #33: Join us at 15:30 UTC / 16:30 BST as we discover all the amazing things the Elite community have been creating this week, before jumping into the game!

Wednesday

Stellar Screenshots: Wednesday is the day we pick the weekly winners of the Stellar Screenshots competition, so make sure your submissions are in by then!

Thursday

Xbox Stream With Arthur: Lead Community Manager Arthur will be streaming from his Xbox on Thursday, so if you're an Xbox player especially, make sure to tune in!

Friday

Commander Creations: The Elite Dangerous community is one of the most creative communities out there, and with this in mind, we want to share some of the fantastic creations from Commanders around the world. This can be artwork, videos, comics, you name it! We'll be evolving this process as we move forward, but to start off, please share your amazing Elite Dangerous related creations using the hashtag #CommanderCreations on Twitter, and we'll share some of our favourites on Friday!

In all honesty I will be waiting until maybe another 2-3 months have actually past, so that all the inevitable patches and optimisations have been fully implemented. If it no longer works on my older rig I’ll just stick to Horizons (that’s if Horizons still works!). If Odyssey works, I’d like to go for a drink in a station, if I can find someone who actually sells alcohol and who isn’t publicly hawking shady deals to everyone within earshot.

I am buying lots and lots of popcorn so I can be prepared for the S$$T show that is to come on May 19th...
broken servers, angry birds nerds, half baked features, bad performance, and of course the Metacritic review :-D.

Thursday XB - CQC Capture the Flag for the first time ever maybe?

Well I can dream.

Like the bit about last week without Odyssey, ignoring all the Console players again. How am I preparing? By wondering what will happen to BGS & PP and when we will get some news or answers to the Questions from LS weeks ago that 'I will ask' was the response to and silence since then.

Still good news that a LS will be on Console, more of this please, and Twitch Drops always welcome.

If you're going to do per platform streams it might be worth considering involving members of the community more directly. The company owns a number of community servers including one actually called Frontier Community Events . If you get sufficient numbers on such discords, a week before the stream you could organise a list of commanders wanting to participate on the stream with strict rules over what they can and can't do along side a suitable punish for breaching (such as lifetime game ban) and reward for participating (ARX, paintjob, exclusive decal). As an extra precaution voice chat & text chat could be done entirely through the FDev discord so it isn't broadcast.

Although using Player Groups and streamers is always welcome, the content involving them can become less engaging when the same ones have been used for 6 years.

Can do that on the forums too ofc no need for Discord...and prob dont want 100 voices yammering on in the background anyway. And so far they havent said they are cohabiting with a streamer on Thursday anyway have they? Maybe just a Lets Play or a visit to a certain Megaship to gee people along before the timer runs out.

I'm led to believe, that I have to buy a new computer, in order to even play on "Horizon" because, FDEV has raised the minimum requirements of the PC.
I can't afford a New Computer !!! So, as from the 19.05.2021 I will not be able to play Elite Dangerous anymore ???? If that would be the case, could I get a refund for the money I have spend on this game...??? :unsure: :unsure: :unsure: :(:(:(

Looking forward to Odyssey, but they totally missed an opportunity not having at least a space legs bar on fleet carriers for Odyssey

Exiting my ship by standing up and leaving my Cmdrs chair, walking through the cabin, maybe chat to my npc number2 whose my security, before choosing an outfit from storage, walking through the ship toward the engines, maybe check on my cargo, some equipment, open the airlock and walk down the ramp for that Armstrong moment... Oh wait..

Blue circle teleport, fade to grey... missed opportunity.
