Elite Dangerous Community Schedule W/C 6 December 2021

I would've been happy with the plasma gatling gun thing, but then I saw it fire rockets, and now I need it.
There's gotta be some issue with it to stop the Scarab being redundant tho. Possibly something like no cargo scoop so it can't pick anything up.

Seems like the Scarab might be faster, too? But yeah... I dunno if there's gonna be room for a cargo hold on the Scorpion. The whole inside looks like a two-seat cockpit.

Edit: Also looked like the Scorpion doesn't have maneuvering boosters to get into the air with?

I would guess it's "wheel thrusters" can only turn it from upside-down position to normal at max. No jumps whatsoever. But we'll see it tomorrow...

Looks like
  • Heavier. So slower top speed, and climbing angles probably lower.
  • No top mounted thrusters, only 4x wheel thrusters (compared to 6x wheel + 2x top), so maybe only half the vertical thrust.
    • I don't see Flyving being an option
  • Cargo, either.
    • No Cargo. I don't see the room for cargo and if you don't have cargo you won't need a scoop.
    • Material scoop only. If we are really lucky, I don't see a hatch in any of the vid.
    • 1T Cargo, though no idea where it is supposed to fit. Surely not.
  • Wheels look less off-road, maybe as an indication of less grip?
    • So depending on how FDev model the weight vs grip vs speed, maybe Spin-outs will be less common.

All plausible. Good news is we won't be speculating for long.

Larger? Requires a C4 SRV bay and takes up both slots?

Yeah they can. I've taken one out solo on foot using a combination of a G5 Executioner and Tormentor. (find a doorway, ideally one that has an ammo crate inside, and just plink away at the thing.)
I've tried many times to surf one, but the cheeky thingy always moves away, so now I normally leave a settlement dark and empty, with the Goliath merrily flying around.

I hear there's a trailer for the new SRV?

It's time to settle the debate once and for all - which way do you position your ship when fuel scooping? Are you a side-scooper, do you angle the top of your ship to face the star, or the bottom? Let me know!

I approach side on and roll so the star is above as I prefer to pitch up to fly around the star. For a long scoop, I usually get the pitch up rate set to orbit the star with hands off the controls.

I am just hoping it can all be controlled and used properly by one person.
According to Sally in the patch notes? Sounds like with one person it's handled the same way that the Scarab SRV works; pilot controls the turret and can swap to it while still controlling the SRV from the turret's view.
