the game is doing fine , in fact its doing better than eve was in its first year...
and why did you make an account just to spout nonsens?

It is not about metacritic but about other players opinion about game and yes people do care about that when going to spend money on a game.

31 August 2015 - 825,000 units sold (PC,Mac,Xbox)

Total unit sold grow by 65 %.


Steam stats:

April 2015 4,471.1

August 2015

3,917.6

Avg. players number down by 12.4 %. http://steamcharts.com/app/359320 We all know that 70-80 % of game slaes is in the first year since realase. So as current player base deacy we will see no new players around to replace them. If FD dont wake up and still will be crafting this grinding machine that Elite Dangerous is, open play will be pointless as option in menu .

This could be quite an amusing game. See if you can match moan threads in this forum to the same moan thread from the same point in the development of that other well known spacey shooty game, you know, the one that's full of griefers & psychopaths.

Metacritic is the worst place to find honest reviews , 90% of gamers dont use it and 99.99% of humans dont even take note of what they say.
look at TB's video about metacritic for more info on why its so bad.

remeber that a lot of players dont even play the game on steam but by the frontier launcher , that the steam charts are not allways correct.
So I would guess there is double the ammount of players than what steamcharts states.

Total units sold has increased a lot, but many players have also stopped playing after a few months, because the game lacks variety and depth to keep them interested. They'll likely return with update 1.4, 1.5 and the Horizons expansions though.

You obviously put a lot of effort into this, but why?

Yup. Games been out quite a while. People are going to try other stuff in that length of time and come back later. Not to mention summer holidays

I don't think CQC or Ships will do much to draw new players in, but Horizons...

Once the first videos are shared of players messing about in Scarabs on the surface, interacting/doing stunts with ships, the sales are going to go waay up, I reckon.

The other thing is quite simply that at least in mainland europe, july/august are notoriously the dead season for gaming ..... people tend to go outside in order to glimpse that large odd orange hot plasma / fusion generator thing in the sky with their kids while walking / playing in a silicon dioxide ground blended substance adjacent to a large mass of saline solution

I'd be the first to confirm that the game still got serious issues and apparent holes in gameplay and content but i'm not convinced that the hysterical tone in the OP does fit the situation.

If Frontier finally start to ramp up their development speed and stop delivering promised content in delayed chunks (hello "season" 2!) I'm sure many people would be happy to return to the game and the word of mouth would become more positive too.

Until then all we can do is to provide constructive criticism and hope Frontier have the skills and manpower to pull it off.

I do agree, Elite didn't turn out to be a thundering success (yet) and the patience of many players is wearing thin by now but it is way to premature to talk about the endtimes.

But let me say something, if the initial Horizon release is turning out to be as patchy and unfinished as the release of 1.0, then the roof will be on fire and the game's lasting reputation will suffer.
Cause year one is for fixing things that didn't make it initially and many people will return to have a look at the progress so far.
But needing a second expansion after that to still deliver "the base Elite you have dreamt of for 20 years" won't go down well with fans and media alike.

I still do hope though.

It's too early to say what is going on with the game and considering it's still Early Access, I don't see why it should have an issue. Other EA games are doing fine.

The real issue facing ED is Star Citizen. When that launches we'll see how ED holds up so they better have their content sorted out before then because once people switch over, and if SC is all it's cracked up to be, people will just play the better game instead.

Being the best selling game on Steam for quite a while now is surely an undenying indication of an almost instant death. Also the very disappointing annual report of Frontier (that one with the increasing large numbers in it) fortifies this rock solid assumption. I have to leave now. Need to find another game... ITS ALL OVER!

i'm fairly certain that Month Avg. Players will decrease in August for all games as we have this thing called 'nice weather' when people tend to spend a lot of time in a place called 'Outside'. i'm not that familiar with 'Outside' myself but i have heard it said that the graphics are amazing even if it does lack a coherent storyline
