They have since stated that they will be releasing a physical version. However, this will be later in the year (don't know) and after the digital release.

Pretty much this. OP if you're the type of player that needs an overload of information and marketing etc. from a developer then I'm afraid you're going to be nothing but disappointed with Frontier. I was actually quite surprised that they showed PS4 in-game footage at PAX as in the past that has not been their way of doing things (though I saw it as a positive - means they are confident in the build and not too far away from a releasable product).
There have been plenty of threads in DD on this topic (probably more than ever in the last month or two), here is the latest one where several players put forward possible reasons for the FD style of communication. Note: this thread is about news on 2.4/3.0/the future but I see no difference between this and communication concerning the PS4 release. At the end of the day it's all about selling their product.
Most likely outcome is a launch (either paper or actual release) at E3 with some form of teaser in the newsletter a week or two before.

Dunno, a lot of it is devoted to the same old "woe is the consoles" and "consoles are ruining ED" garbage that I quite honestly am sick of reading (and have mostly given up responding to). People cling to these age old stereo types. You will find most people on this PS4 forum are of an older generation. Nothing like the stereotypes that are being portrayed over on DD.
Although having said that there are a couple of gem posts on there about how FDev don't communicate well and don't interface with the community enough, they do a lot of superficial stuff like 90% of the live streams. Just compare the numbers who tune in on the "Live Plays" vs when they did the 2.3 reveal. The difference is clear to see, even Ed commented on the numbers breaking all records.
Humans as someone else pointed out, need information. FDev just don't provide it in a meaningful way enough for me.

It is an unfortunate truth that the "PC Master Race" meme is here to stay.
That it is patently stupid does not make it go away, it just means that it gets adopted and spouted by people with that affinity
just remind them that you are playing the same game on a 350 bucks consoles instead of a 1500 bucks PC...

The amount of info on Elite is huge there is little difference between the platforms. Being that this is the 3rd release of the game it may seem uneventful for a release. Most news we hear for other games come from 3rd parties and leaks in news. Gaming sites have had little to say about Elite once again maybe because they covered it twice already. Elite Dangerous live streams are very much about the PS4 version as well and PC and Xbox. FD does a lot for the community really much more then most Devs.

to be honest i used to use a laptop, then a 360, now a ps4. and to be honest i don't really care which is better, each has pros and cons yet all have same result we can play games on them. now as for FDev id rather have no news and it release, than get news every other day and then have something bad happen.

Do not forget that they will have to tell the stock market before/at same time as everyone else, so they cannot slip out the date to us just because we keep asking for it.

We already know what the game is from the PC and XBOX versions. The only news left to announce for the ps4 is a specific date of release. They haven't announced a specific date because they don't know a specific date yet. They are writing code and probably incorporating fixes from the bugs in the 2.3 version into ps4 so the release is as bug free as possible.

There are more visible players on PC not that you get tyo see them. Also PC has VR. Also with with a PC you can pretend you also use it for serious stuff. HOw do xbox or PS4 aacess the web forums. MY pc is upgraded dell circa 2006 so console go through severl derivations also games are £60 a pop. Battefield 4 had 64 players. LOts of free to play basically it can do anything you can imagine. How many consoie player ever get round to coding there own games. Also mods were a big driver for games.

does it really matter what we play ED on, as long as we play the game and share the experience of a game we all love. hell if i thought for one minute i could play ED on a mobile phone or even a pocket calculator then i would, wouldn't matter that some people would make fun because they have a top of the range flight simulator shed in the back garden.

well last i time i used my console for internet access, i had to hit it twice with a hammer then hook it up to a hamster wheel for an extra power boost, then finally use a 4g coat hanger to boost download speed.
