Elite Dangerous has sold 3m copies, Horizons 1.3m (43% of basegame owners)

BTW, if those who don't buy horizons don't care about the game then 43% of people who have bought ED don't care very much about it.

That's true. When i only had the base game it took for ages to decided to buy horizons. You have to ask the community even. Not sure if the low price today makes it an instabuy with the base game like old truck simulator dlcs.

You are being stupid intentionally or you truly are stupid.

You're the one chasing unicorns fella.

Multiplayer expansions tend to add OP equipment or buffs as part of the new content. It's one of the motivations to buy it. (Plus adding new game mechanics that don't provide new gameplay variety and advantages would be both very difficult, and ultimately pretty self defeating). A purely narrative game could add content chapters or whatever. A multiplayer game featuring PvP, and indeed PvE, tends to add new weaponary / vehicles etc which are both functionally diverse and better in key respects than many of the prior set. Got any examples of recent, comparable games that haven't followed that route? I kinda doubt it ;)

You are being deeply unrealistic mate. But enjoy the unicorn hunt ;)

Has anyone actually won yet?

I won a few weeks after getting it... or at least had an 'end-game' ship... (and sold it after 4 jumps...) The rest of the game now is to explore every system, that may take a few more weeks :p

I'm sure though that once I know what the objective of the game really is I'll win, even if I have to find the 'god-mode' cheat characters...

Sorry, Indigo - I know what you're saying and am being facetious :D

Again, check Frontiers own financial disclosure for 2018. Tencent was the ONLY thing keeping them from a net loss last year...

Last year also marked FDev moving into new and larger offices, which likely represents a large chunk of money, so I'm a deal less worried than you seem to want to be.

I've got examples within ED that simply didn't feature within Horizons exclusive content, multicrew, neutron star boosts, new albeit not superior to other ships (the three Alliance brothers), CQC, wings and surface driving.

I'm not getting involved in bickering about some of the figures, I will say one thing through, all three games have done well, Frontier seem to doing well, and I expect big things from this year as they are no longer distracted by moving into the new office. So should be full steam ahead on updates and new games.

I'm very interested in seeing which one of universal properties frontier is basing their game on this time. I think Braben confirm their fourth game would be base on another license property.

My bet this time is on James Bond.

There are probably purchased copies that were never "opened".
I also harbor a suspicion that some who haven't bought horizons are hoping it will be made "free" one day.

RE: ME:A

I hold a theory, and I'm not alone, that you sell your product based on the success of your previous product. Unless it is your first, that's the hardest one.

ME:A sold so many because mass effect was very popular even with the fiasco that was 3.

This works for movies, as well.

I'm guilty of this. I bought my ED copy on Steam Winter sale of 2017 because I hoard games and I have a problem and I must see a professional before this becomes wor... OH, ACE COMBAT 7 IS RELEASED AT THE END OF THIS MONTH!

I wonder what would happen if Frontier took a leaf out of their Multicrew book, and half their profits were taken away and given to us players so long as we're playing in their game.

Cool, like I said. You can't come up with a comparable paid expansion that didn't add superior 'P2W' kit then ;)

(PS you're forgetting that Multicrew added extra PIPs and is totally P2W ;))
