Elite Dangerous - Help us choose a "rare trade good" to be put into the game!

Copy Pasta:

Hello CMDRs!

As you're aware, Elite: Dangerous, the space simulation game, was just released on PS4 recently. Frontier Developments also held an AMA and giveaway here to celebrate the launch.

Now, Frontier has offered to give us our very own global community goal. This event will be available for everyone, on all platforms. The goal (TBD) will unlock our very own "Rare Trade Good" for use within the game.

Feel free to submit an idea for fun even if you don't own the game!

  • The type and name of the commodity will be decided by /r/PS4. We will be forever immortalized - in space!
  • Simply enter your suggestion in the comments below! - Be as detailed as you like. Write a backstory. Tell us about your commodity! Where does it come from? Who makes it? What does it do, and why would anyone want it?
  • Here's a list of the types of commodities in game, to give you an idea. Frontier did this same thing with /r/XboxOne when the game released on Xbox, and they came up with the slave commodity "Master Chefs", slaves who specialize in cooking.

The winner will be the highest voted (developer and moderator approved...) comment in this thread. The victor will be picked on Monday, July 10th - So get creative!!!

Please submit any ideas in the /r/ps4 thread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/6le1do/elite_dangerous_help_us_choose_a_rare_trade_good/. Only those votes will be counted.

Update:

THE WINNER by votes is "Platinum Aloy". Horizon Zero Dawn's very own Aloy will now be immortalized within the game as a rare trade good in the near future.

Just added my idea - Itza Spritzer. A fizzy fruity drink found exclusively in the Itza system. Renowned for its refreshing fruity taste and bizzarre Purple colour.

I Don't reddit - but someone should go with Tribbles... maybe it could have hazardous component so unless you get tribble proof cargo racks your ship starts to get 'infested' and has to be professionally cleaned to get your modules working.

You could randomise it just for giggles - so every 15 minutes that you carry the tribbles there is a X% chance that a module will randomly malfunction for 15 minutes...

haha - that ought to cause havoc.

Might need an OK from the CBS/Paramount people since I assume tribbles are copywrighted.

Great idea! I would love this... It's a bit like carrying a UA!

(Mined) Salt
We all know the story from the patch notes. "For usage later" i guess, no matter how much we will trade it, we will never run out of salt. When system is at a bad state, double amount of salt in supply :D

Meatballs?

As some of you know the System Gende is occupied by a Player Minor Faction "Swedish Vikings". It would definitely put a smile on anyones face if they could buy "Swedish Gende Meatballs" from Bailunas Hub and sell it to a station. I would say set Rare Allocation to 8 sincr that is a normal amount of Meatballs per dish in sweden.

The rest of the Swedes in the Community and others would probably enjoy going there buying their Meatballs.

Arcturan burst weed. Only grows on one special planet circling Arcturus. It's an illegal narcotic to be traded on the black market. Smoking it allow the user to travel incorporeal through space, becoming an invisible all seeing eye. For that reason alone it's highly demanded by covert espionage agencies.

Please upvote "Metal: Journium - An extremely rare, red-hued meta-metal often found in sand dunes. When charged, it can briefly negate gravitational forces, allowing items imbued with it to float through the air."

Inspired by the extraordinary PS4-only game "Journey".

;)

Clean tighty whities. It can either be what most normal people would think of(underwear) or a specialised slave class...i think the former would be safest.
