Patch Notes Update Elite Dangerous: Horizons patch 2.0.04

I am so disappointed in Horizons that I have sworn off buying future content until significant proof surfaces that Frontier is even CAPABLE of addressing these bugs, more less willing. Add to that: I will NEVER purchase content in the beginning of a season again. We paid full price and have been unable to use much of what we DID buy. And you know, later this year, around the Holidays, Horizons will go on sale cheap, so others can enjoy a more fleshed out, functional experience for far cheaper thanks to our full price bug testing.

Never again.

You want me to buy content? Fine. I shall wait until the entire season's is both present in the game and fully functional. Until then, Frontier gets no more money from me. And if No Man's Sky turns out to support tools such as HOTAS setups and TrackIR, I may just move on anyway, since a more fleshed out and exciting Exploration mechanic really appeals to me anyway.

^^^^^^^^^^ This. that's the risk that Frontier is taking in voluntarily not addressing the most serious bugs and instead keeping adding new features. It doesn't matter if you agree with the guy or not. I've read this kind of comment more and more. You can ignore your customers for a while but at some point, it's going to come back to bite you in the ... (rear end)

  • Added guards for a door manager related crash
  • Fixed a server crash if a star system is being accessed while being deleted.

It's obviously a truly dangerous part of space if the door bouncers on ships now need additional guards, and *something* is going round deleting entire systems. Stay safe out there CMDRs!

Some bugs take longer to fix simply due to the complexity and other outlying issues. In the development process, it goes something like this: Bug is posted on forums/Customer Support Ticket -> Bug is then inputted into our internal tracker -> QA investigates bug -> QA attempts to replicate bug -> QA sends replication steps over to engineering -> engineering attempts a fix for said bug -> Back to QA to validate or reject the applied fix in the code. If it fails, back to QA and Engineering loop. It's a long process. :)

This is not a controlled loop

:)

This is going to be a buggy game for years, get used to it.
I know nothing about game development, but i'm assuming their are valid reasons as to why some bugs can't get an easy fix.
Its a complicated business making games it would seem.
A modicum of patience is required or some people will find this a very frustrating experience.
Thanks FD for your hard work.

Frontier's in for a bad decision: New customers with new releases.

Frontier's just not caring about current customers.

I paid for version 1 as a backer.

If paid for version 2 when it came out.

I had a lot of patience with version 1.

What I don't have is patience when I pay for a new version with a ridiculous amount of new content but a whole bunch of really gameplay-affecting bugs.

One month after release most of these bugs including stability problems are still in.

I do not think I can forget all the frustration and the lost hours in the last month until release of the next verson at the end of this year.

Maybe other customers think in a similar way?

Frontier, you're going to lose an even larger fraction of your fan base. I don't think you can compensate for that with selling new versions. You needed 20 years to fix your 93/95 chaos' reputation.

Please, don't get me wrong:

I wish to still play this game in 10 years from now. For that there must be enough players left willing to pay money for new versions BEFORE the bargain sale at the end of the year starts.

You won't manage to go down that road with a disgruntled player base leaving the game one player after the other.

This whole thread is a cry for help, not forum members trying to manage your company, cmdr Braben :-(

Hey some people like to complain, nothing wrong with that.
Just on another thread. Common decency and all that ;)

This has to do with instance creation and destruction, not all star systems are actively in an instance. It also has to do with how databases lock and release information for other purposes of access. My Guess is the star system is deleted when no near by players, within a given system jump(s), which would upset data structures that are accessed when routing systems are needing information. The two could get caught in the middle by random chance of a player's activity and database locks were not applied properly.

I'm really disappointed too. It was kinda ok-ish last year before holidays, but than I've paid full AAA-title price for 2.0 update and after that I can't explore anymore (that was my favourite part of the game) because route plotting is unbelievably slow now for some reason, and I can't complete missions because old ones are rare now, and almost all new missions are bugged. I regret I've paid FD for this "DLC", but I will not make this mistake again.

Thanks for the update, but so many good questions have been asked here and frontier answers as vaguely as possible to avoid answering anything. This is getting really tiresome, Fix the NPC flight paths if you wont fix instancing issues, I mean seriously I'm so tired of NPC's stopping mid fight and spinning for no reason, ramming for no reason, generally being completely for no reason. How about the "new" missions that are bugged and can not be completed, contacts never showing up, Landing mid air for no reason, NPC's spawning in a huge cluster behind the player completely breaking immersion, cookie cutter stations, INTERDICTION of other players result in spawning in a cluster when they should spawn in front of you, NOT behind or on top of you. i'm so frustrated and I seriously am losing faith in your ability to actually fix anything. what happened to the 3 page long fixes you guys used to post? is the money going to your head or is it not coming in at all?
