Elite Dangerous: In Case You Missed It | Update 14 Release Date and More!

Knowing what to look for is the information I'm looking for. Your screenshots are neat and whatnot, but I can take screenshots of geological features I've found too

Not going to repeat the same thing endlessly, go and look through threads, that's what they are there for, there's even a sticky one I think, guides and tutorials abound already, use your initiative and look for them instead of expecting everyone to repeat everything over and over again.

You speak of reading yet you clearly didn't read the part where I said I did exactly that, and I still had questions. It honestly just sounds like you don't really have an answer but are pretending you do. The alternative is that you do actually have an answer and are being deliberately vague and unhelpful, which is much worse. Great way to interact with newer players! Stay classy. I hope the rest of the ED community is better.

There's a not so fine line between pointing you in the right direction, and just flat out playing your game for you: "Go here, press this, profit..." - and there are vastly differing opinions on its location and how fine it really is.

Your ship has 95% of everything you need to get to where you want to go. CODEX and Gal/Sys Maps - admittedly, no one's actual first stops on the information gathering route, though they should be - are full of super useful information and these forums are also full of Guides & How To's. #searchtheforum - Then there are discord servers, reddits, sub reddits, steam community pages, wikis and so forths... the list is not quite endless, but not far off.

Repeating everything you need/desire, here, in a thread on a different topic...

in short though:
for high end mats, you need pristine reserves
if you're looking for metals, you probably want metal rich or metallic
if you want to pinpoint locations, you've got a couple optional modules for scanning systems and mapping planets.
Actually, the in-game resources like the codex are the first steps I take since I always try to do everything on my own first, and I hate referring to external resources or guides or being told where to go. In fact, I said this in my first post in this thread. I always exhaust all options before coming to post on the forums, but there seems to be a lot of bad faith accusations going around as to how much effort I put in before coming here. The whole reason I posted was because I don't like just being told where to go, and so many guides are just that: "Go to this planet" as opposed to teaching methodology. I'm trying to avoid other people playing my game for me at all costs--something I do in all games btw. I'm not sure how much more clear I can be about that.

Nope. We are not. But with time you will get to know the various people, and also know what class they fall in. White-knights, doomers, trolls, open-onlies or just jokers. Then you can at least read between the lines.

On the topic, I know that somebody posted coordinates of those mystic Oddy crystal forests: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...oords-for-crystal-shards-in-hip-36601.606104/

P.S.: guess what category I fall in ;)

You forgot about doomsayers, and people which think, that open is only about pvp, full of gankers, and any log into open= gank in 5 seconds :)

Yeah, we can refine the categories even more, but I'd file doomsayers under "doomers". We would need a name for the other people you brought up. How about "carebears"? Wasn't that the curse-word the other faction used for them?

Look, I came here for a good argument! Not the automatic gainsaying of the other persons point!

..............No you didn't!

Yes I did!

Didn't.

Did!
Oh I give up!
