Thank you for continuing to acknowledge this. It's no small thing that a developer would be willing to devote time to fix a bedrock issue like terrain generation, on which all of the other Odyssey gameplay is literally built on. I doubt that I even begin to understand what a huge task it will be to regen every landable body, while working around existing surface sites. Thank you.
 
It is if you have one - seems like you don't, seems like I do. Also likely a lot easier to sort than some of the issues still on the tracker. I for one hope they do it, it'll sure amke a group of us really happy adter 6 years of asking

I wasn't aware that the top 20 issue tracker was collated based on how easy an issue is to fix.

Today I learned that I am completely out of touch with FDev's and the community's priorities. Like 'Expose telemetry data for motion simulators' - really? THAT is the community's number 7 priority item compared to the thousands of other bugs and issues??

The entire list does nothing to get me excited. The only item in FDev's list that I consider even remotely worth looking at is antialiasing.

The items I thought most players considered to be important (e.g. broken lighting: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/a-long-post-on-lighting-issues.590674/) don't even make the top 30. 🤷‍♂️
On the plus side, this is proof that you can use the issue tracker in your favor.

According to this list you can request new features, have them up voted in reddit and they will do it.

So, let's see what wins.... Is is ship interiors? Is it full VR support or is it the panther clipper? Or settlements on Raxxla? Let's go for it.

To be honest, I'd be happy too if I had one. (not my wife)

Just wondering about the priorities. E.g. VR equipment is something many more players have and use. Still FDev is not willing to add on foot VR support on any roadmap.

Guess they would make more people happy with that than with motion telemetry.

But on the other hand maybe they just don't know and not enough complaints about new features have been submitted in the issue tracker.....

Well someone submitted this issue report last week:

…which has only got one Confirmation since - you could always try getting some support for it?

(personally I think it’s a pointless exercise - if FDev ever decides to expand the existing VR gameplay, I should think it’ll be well after the console versions have been released and patch patch patched)
 
Sorry, I've only murders on my clips...

But that how's looking. Go figure what is Odyssey and what is Horizons... also, there a noticeable difference on antialiasing with NV toggled: lines are way smoother on Horizons whilst the "green-blue" is more marked on Odyssey and lines are not smooth.

I'll add another picture, just because.

My Halloween string lights look horrible in Odyssey.

On the left side you can see what they're supposed to look like. Not only did the lights change from green to yellow for some reason, the Jack O'Lanterns have turned into yellow blobs as well.
That's quite disappointing, especially after you've worked you Arx off* to get these. Medium settings btw.

* I did not. Bought them years before Arx were a thing.
 
I'm just looking at a new FDL builds for when they break TC in update 8 (It didn't need fixing). Huge corrosive MC and 4 short range rails with super pen & feedback actually puts out way more damage than the broken TC meta plasma build of the future will. I get DPS 372
 
Pleased to see #19 get on here ... hopefully this fix will restore space to looking more like it does in Horizons. I wonder too if the two other lighting related tickets in the list are all related in terms of the cause ... who knows maybe fixing one will fix them all.

Top 20 Issues


  1. Tiling Planetary Features - As before - would require a large overhaul so no short term plans.
  2. Automated accounts are used to influence BGS and Powerplay. - See our statement from 9 September.
  3. Anti Aliasing Not Working Correctly - Anti-aliasing improvements will come in Update 8 with additional ones planned for the future.
  4. Exiting the Game just hangs need to force terminate - Still under investigation.
  5. Joystick buttons 32+ not working - Still under investigation.
  6. Severe performance problems since Update 5 - The specific cause of frame rate drops following Update 5 has been identified and should be resolved in Update 8. Further performance work will be ongoing thereafter.
  7. Expose telemetry data for motion simulators - This is still being discussed internally.
  8. Dav's Hope not spawning materials - Appears to be fixed for Update 8 - confirming internally with our QA team.
  9. Supercruise Stuck at 0 - Still under investigation.
  10. Interdiction progress bars not visible - Appears to be fixed, currently planning deployment.
  11. NPC Fighter kills in Conflict Zones counting for the progression are a potential exploit. - Appears to be fixed in Update 8.
  12. Planets and Moons orbit lines not visible in the FSS when in VR - Under investigation.
  13. System and Galaxy map misalignment in widescreen aspect ratios (21:9) - Requires significant/fundamental changes. Nothing to announce.
  14. Missions and rewards not sharing with the team - Still being worked on.
  15. Thermal conduit too strong and wrong damage increase - Appears fixed for Update 8. Issue largely comes down to difficulty understanding how they work. Changes should allow players to see when it activates and how much it's activating by.
  16. Incorrect brightness/contrast adjustment depending on angle between camera ship and star - Some of these issues seem related to system limitations while others are genuine bugs. Will be worked on after performance/optimisation is improved.
  17. Discovered systems show validating - Appears related to the way we identify Xbox Gamer Tags - fix is still being worked on.
  18. Illumination of background planets is tied to illumination of player ship by the illuminating star - Similar to the above brightness/contrast issue: could be related to system limitations but otherwise may require further overhauls.
  19. Gamma balance is off which causes details in space to be lost - Seems related to balancing rather than gamma values. Will be investigated post performance improvements.
  20. Epic Games Store commanders having troubles with cAPI - Still under investigation.
As always, please remember this a reflection of the current situation as we see it, and the planned release for these fixes is subject to change.

Appears fixed for Update 8. Issue largely comes down to difficulty understanding how they work. Changes should allow players to see when it activates and how much it's activating by. Could this be anymore Vague? What have they changed? Was it to strong? Have they capped it below 60%? Have they scaled it with heat?
