Elite Dangerous: Known Issues Following Latest Updates

I have had an issue lately where I have fully discovered the system I have FSS the system and found all bodies but when I go to the system map a planet is missing and the only way it populates is by getting within 20-16 ls and then the planet pops up .
The latest system is FLYIEDGOU CT-- C15-11 and the missing planet is A3 ( I had to target in FSS and fly to it to scan it ) . I'm currently in orbit for the night .
The other system I was at 00:01 this morning . 6 planets A4 was missing even though I had fully FSS the system .

Hmm, looks like I picked the wrong patch to go RAW gathering at the Shards. I guess I'll stay parked until they fix this very frustrating bug. It took me several hours to fill up on one raw type.
Exit ship in SRV, may or maybe not be able to shoot shard off pillar, if not in SRV, maybe On Foot. Then back into the SRV to gather shard. Then that's it! No more picking up anything in SRV until I re-enter ship and then exit again to do that process over. At least I don't have to exit the entire game, but still, very annoying.

Greetings Commanders.

Following very many continued conversations throughout present threads here in the Forum after the deployment of the latest updates this week (thank you so much for your time), we're continuing to file through the more pressing, widespread reports of immediate issues that significantly impact gameplay and give you a place of further acknowledgement of them, as oppose to losing responses to pages of discussion, here there and everywhere.
That's not helpful to you.

Right now we are focused on the following issues raised in the last few days since update releases.

PLEASE NOTE: This is not a list to overrule pre-existing issues raised which either didn't make it in to the latest updates or are legacy issues affecting gameplay.

We're still working on updates for you regarding previously raised issues around many areas of the game, not only gameplay, which we're hopeful to give you more information with progress on soon.

Currently Investigated Immediate Issues of Note:
  • Xbox players are currently unable to access Horizons Content.
  • SRVs unable to scoop materials from planetary surfaces.
    • Relog required to bypass (entirely suboptimal workaround and entirely noted as such).
  • Deceased NPCs blocking reactor terminal, stalling progress.
    • This was claimed fixed but reopened on our side following continued reports. All our apologies for this, Commanders.
  • Stability issues with logging into the game at the main menu with Odyssey.
    • I've been collecting Commander IDs for instances whereby the game is unable to be launched and causes a crash.
    • There was an issue whereby once this crash ocurred, the player could not submit formal crash reports, however this has since been resolved. Please do continue now to submit a report using the usual report method each time it's encountered.
  • Instances of Scenarios no longer triggering.
    • **It would be hugely appreciated if we could have some additional info on issues with mistriggered scenarios, regarding the system state and so on, as a lot of factors go into scenario generation.
    • I have a particular report from a Commander regarding the Upsilon Aquarii system, however this is currently in a "None" state which doesnt generate scenarios.
      • Not at all disputing that there COULD be an issue, but also it's worth keeping in mind that Scenarios were spawning there earlier, then the server tick happened, the system then changed state and now they no longer are.
    • All feedback on this is massviely helpful right now. Thank you!!
I'm going to update this list live as we go.

I hope you can appreciate that with naturally so many issues very dear to individuals right now that these kinds of "bite size priority" lists of immediate issues are easier to report in on when it comes to the potential of 'hotfixes'. These do not, again, replace the wider known issues lists.

Once again, so many thanks for your ever passionate feedback and constructive support on issues we face. Here to help.
Not sure if this has been mentioned already...
With regards to the SRV issue, relogging into the game is not necessary to reset the "material collected" message that stops commanders collecting further materials.
Docking the SRV and then re-deploying again resets the message, allowing you to collect more materials.
Although still sub optimal. It may prevent materials disappearing from the ground by logging out and in again.

What about the galaxy map situation, fps drops drastically when approaching any nebula? is this error taken into account?

Cheers Sally for the updates.

This one is relatively new, although I haven't been ranking up that often lately: Ranking up messages show one level too high.

Also, while I posted an issue about it on the Issue Tracker, both the original poster of the issue and myself have had issues getting the Issue Tracker to work. The "SUBMIT" button stays greyed out in all browsers but Edge it seems.

:D S
I've seen this too the past couple of days. Have been ground-pounding at surface conflict zones to increase my Mercenary rank. Got an on-screen promotion message to "Gunslinger" but the message in my CMDR Inbox congratulated me on achieving "Warrior".
Likewise, a day later, I was promoted to "Warrior" but the congratulatory message is for "Gladiator".

I don't understand why this game company can't get anything right. Every update and patch to fix something just breaks something else. It's getting very frustrating to keep fighting with a game you just want to enjoy! It's already THE MOST grinding game in the history of games I've ever played, and to continually introduce bug after bug, well... it's about time to move on to another game me thinketh. There's so many bugs and glitches, that Elite is just not worth playing anymore, IMO. 10 updates since May, and nothing really seems "fixed", ever. FDEV just really needs to take a step back and reevaluate what they're doing here, or trying to do, since it ain't really working very well.

I completely understand and hear your frustration. True, it does seem that every update bring forth a new volley of bugs along with it.
I will whole-heartedly admit that I have thought to myself what is the point of all this... You upgrade your suit and equipment and spend hours grinding for materials for what? What is the end goal of having a Lvl 5 suit and 2 weapons with all the mods you want in them? There's no end game goal like a massive hiest that would only require the best equipment to accomplish. The game is solely reliant on 3rd party tools that are developed by people and its community that solely do it off their own efforts Inara, EDDB, and the Neutron Highway tools to name just a few....
However, I defy you to say that (during) the time spent playing the game, that it wasn't fun.
Elite has a polished system in place with a brilliant flight model. End game content, story plots and content are a marketing thing that is made the way that its made to maximise money. But the bugs that we're facing are just that.... Bugs that will eventually get ironed out in the wash... Have faith buddy.

I love Elite. NO game, at least not an MMO, has ever taken over my life like this game. I will say that most of the time is spent just doing mindless MAT gathering stuff, but still, Elite Dangerous is a Masterpiece of a Space Sim. Yeah, it's highly repetitive and can get really boring, but it is what you make of it. I am just trying to make it fun, but the constant ineptitude of its development team is hampering those efforts of just having fun. I don't want to fly down to a settlement, with a NVIDIA 3090, and have my game start stuttering, to the point I am lucky to get 2 fps sometimes. And just when you think the game might be on the right track, they announce another update... which leads to nothing but dread of what bug(s) will THIS update or patch will introduce. I think this game's days are numbered. Most of my ED friends have long moved onto new games. I, on the other hand, like to hit myself in the head with a hammer :(

Hello CM.
I have posted the below message in other topic. One of the pilot redirected me to this thread. So I'm reposting it here.

I have crashes after 1-2 seconds on the startup screen. ED Horizons working fine. I reinstalled the entire game. Several times I have checked files integrity. All my drivers and my windows 10 are up to date. Issue has been sent to the support. Here is what I'm seeing in Win Dbg. I think it is a bug. I wish FDEVs a good hunting ;)

How about pay the Players for the QA work, cause FD obviusly does not has a single person for QA.
How can a bug that is not related to a Player having some wierd Hardware or that only happens under special cirumstances, jadejade... there are many resons for bugs getting through QA blabla.

But a core mechanic (SRV Bug) or even the very entance to the game (Launcher) been broken for everyone under any cirumstances. Over and over and over again.

UPDATE TO ORIGINAL POST WITH ADDITIONAL ISSUE [AND CALL FOR FURTHER FEEDBACK]
GET UR FEEDBACK FROM A QA TEAM!!!!
I wanne play a Game that i paid for not be part of a QA Team.
GET UR GAME STRAIGHT OR KILL IT pls it is begging for it's dead can't ur hear it sreaming in pain.
Have some mercy.

Since 2 (or more) updates after joining a wing there are some markers shown on the screen (see screenshot). Most probably some debugging leftover. @sallymorganmoore could you please put it on your list of known bugs?

Hey Pilots,
I got an answer from the FS support about my issue...

Excuse Me, but I think it's twist everything round. Ok maybe my machine is not compliant with minimum req. But I have played Odyssey on average settings and everything was ok till update 10. Many other pilots reported similar issue and they probably have better and compliant machine then me.
I clearly pointed that this is a bug in the code. BTW Since '99 I'm working as software developer - maybe not as a game developer, but I can imagine how it's some times ;)
If this issue is really related with my PC config, I shouldn't be able to run a game at all. I should got a message like "Return your PC to the museum" or something like that...
Maybe it is a good time to replace parts in my PC (I need ask my wife for permission ;)), but still I have strong feeling that this will not help here.

The game crash on the Launcher isn't everyone - it works for me and plenty of others are playing too.
To be honest I haven't tested the SRV material scooping.
They clearly have a QA team - but that QA team can't possibly test every combination of every hardware configuration put all the different variables in terms of where a use might be in space when they logged out.
You could argue that the QA needs to test more of those combinations, and maybe needs to include SRV activities in their build regression testing, but going from that to claiming the game is dead is down right strange.

The fact is that seeing that these bugs pop up when nothing relevant (that we can see) has changed (update 10 didn't change anything to do with SRVs) shows you have complex and interconnected the code for a game like ED becomes.

@sallymorganmoore
The relative silence of the community team (apart from the update 10 and 10.1 patch notes), is concerning many in the community.
I know the team is working on something (probably triggered by the financial report, but can we have a plan for when we will get some sort of update.
What the community needs to know is :

  • What is the plan for the twice-weekly twitch streams - the community teams publicly recognising the community and their love of the game is key to continued engagement I think.
  • What is the plan for things like Dev-updates - we need those updates so that the community know that DE hasn't simply been abandoned in terms of further development.
In short - can we have some idea of when you plan to end your silence - to come from very engaging in Decemeber to nothing at all (apart from patch notes) in January was a stunningly bad plan, and we need to know that there is something going on behind the scenes.
A roadmap for Odyssey on consoles would be useful - I know dates can change, but you must by now have some idea of what your trigger point will be - i.e how good Odyssey needs to be on PC before you start the march to consoles.

IMHO, if feasible, Frontier should focus on taking Odyssey assets and incorporate them in Horizons build keeping original Horizons in separate as it is now.

Forget the "upgraded Cobra engine", new terrain, etc... and make the game actually work.

By doing so, Frontier should be able to release a console version of Odyssey based on the Horizons build and it would continue to run quite well on any average PC hardware.

After this is achieved, then start working again on upgrading the engine, step-by-step...

still thing they mis-interpreted the memory requirement's part, i have 32gb of memory i think the standard these days is 16 gb memory for most machine.

Uncoupling the Odyssey game play from the Engine it is built on would be a massive piece of work (almost as long as the original Odyssey development (2/3 years, and it is likely that a lot of the game play (pve/pvp on foot activies) simply couldn't be implemented, and you can't upgrade an engine step by step - that is not how engines work.
They adopted the Cobra engine because they couldn't do Odyssey on the existing engine, and it is unlikely that the Horizon engine could be adapted to give the required Cobra features.

And when the final bug is gone and my Xbox 1s can now be viewed in a museum, I may find out if Edo is even coming to my little console (partially kidding) lol. That aside the bugs can make it harder to remain positive when you don't always see the improvements and progress being made o7
