Surely you have to totally agree that what we've gotten so far as the "Mercenary Pack" is a hot mess? In the original
newsletter, it clearly states:
As well as a digital download copy of the game, the pack will contain:
- An additional Eagle fighter ship docked in a secondary location
- Exclusive pack of ship paint jobs
- A day one ship decal
- A digital players guide
- A digital concept art book
- Plus additional in-game benefits and other digital goodies to be announced over the coming weeks
Ok so let's go through them one by one...
Freagle - Check. But it's not the gorgeous red paint job you advertised so wth?
Exclusive PACK of paint jobs
(Plural) - Nope we have ONE, and PLEASE no one try and tell me that the
same paint job replicated on 3 different ships counts as a "pack" because by your OWN definition (Cobra Nest Pack etc etc) it does NOT.
A day one ship decal - That crummy pirate logo surely cannot be it?! Not everyone is a pirate you know! Give us something more accessible to multiple in-game occupations so that Traders and the like have something they are Proud to have on the side of their hard-earned ships like the Elite logo in gold, with "Day One" written underneath it or something. I think that's what a lot of people imagined - something that commemorates the fact that we've been WITH you guys SINCE DAY ONE! I think I'd be right in saying that even
pirates would not be too impressed with the skull decal which you just ripped off the pirate outposts you'd already made! Smh.
Digital Player's Guide - Ok so we do have the manual, which was released full of typos etc, but it is there. (Btw, does anyone there EVER proof-read anything? I've never seen a game with so many typos, that goes for in-game too!)
Digital Concept Art Book - where is this? And don't tell me you haven't got the art done yet - it's a CONCEPT book - meaning the art was done BEFORE THE GAME. So you MUST already have it! Why was it not ready for release day?
Additional In-Game Goodies - I guess we'll wait and see. Fingers crossed and all that. But seeing as how I am STILL waiting on T-shirts I ordered back in NOVEMBER, I'm not very hopeful right now that you can deliver anything on-time anymore, and don't get me started on the Boxed Upgrade which I bought for nostalgia purposes (what was I thinking?)...
Also, we shouldn't have to be hunting all over the place for these items. They should be in our store accounts in one section titled "Mercenary Pack" and if they don't require downloading, there should at least be an explanation there to tell us where and WHAT exactly they are in-game. Frontier is TERRIBLE at communication to the players. You hardly EVER respond to all these thousands of forum posts over the last few months with upset customers complaining about the delay in their orders. And the ticket system... omg what a nightmare that is for us and you. You really need to make some kind of lengthy announcement to all your loyal customers to let us know what the heck is going on with all this stuff. Set the right expectations, keep us informed, then maybe we wouldn't feel so disappointed with the whole thing. When you continually break your own promises and then don't even tell us why or release a statement explaining what's going on, you're obviously going to lose the confidence of the player base. So please, seriously, let us know what's going on and sort the Mercenary pack out - give us what you originally promised in the newsletter, not this placeholder stuff.
