ANNOUNCEMENT Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Has Launched!

I landed on Beagle Point 2 yesterday playing my last Horizons game before Odyssey. I was in my SRV and my ship was on the planet. I quit the game like that. Normal.

I installed Odyssey, loaded my game and my ship auto-departs and is destroyed. Leaving me in my SRV with no way to leave. Taxi wouldn't even work for Colonia. Bag of kak. Talk about destroying every grain of excitement and anticipation... Feel like getting just my money back and giving up on Elite.


Frontier, please give me my ship back!
open a support ticket. They've been very generous lately with helping commanders in situations like this. Gave me 50 mil once because I turned in a wing mission and wasn't awarded the pay for it.
 
i see it on my launcher but the Install button is unclickable; any ideas besides uninstalling the game? I can't see how to uninstall the launcher only(?)

Thanks for the info. I submitted a bug report (I think). Is there a separate support ticket submission form?

I suspect it was the change in scenery generation that did it, but who knows. Whatever it was, I was ready to play. Now I can't and need to wait for a possibility of getting back to where I was. Disappointment is on a galactic scale.

Yeah I can imagine bro. I don't remember exactly where I submitted the ticket, maybe frontier support?

No excuse Sally. This is has been the same kind of rubbish for every update since beta. I would have expected improvements by now...
Let's remind ourselves that JUST MAYBE the team weren't quite so prepared for the sheer amount of players that'd be rushing the servers at launch.
As I've asked another disgruntled ED player; how many online releases do you know of that run 100% smoothly 100% of the time at launch?
Let's exercise a bit more patience, shall we? :D

Will the minimum specs be lowering at all? I made the mistake of preordering from steam, and my pc doesn't meet the min per this: https://customersupport.frontier.co...dyssey-s-Minimum-and-Recommended-requirements

I have over 390 hours on Elite, and steam apparently doesn't refund dlc unless the base game has been played less than 2 hours...brilliant no? :/ Lesson learned.
 
Training suit doesn't seem to have NV, tried several times to turn it on and it didn't.
Yeah, I just tried it out of curiosity. I realised I was responding to the guy who made the original complaint as well. Doh.

He doesn't appear to be on the training mission but I'm not sure why night vision would highlight a grid anyway, having not seen it in action.

Some of us?!?!?
The majority of us are experiencing connection problems. After all the updates and new seasons you would think that FDev would have got the hang of elastic compute now and could scale up to cope with launch day. Instead it's the same old problem all over again...

@Siddius just press Enter when on the Odyssey entry and it will install, I wasted about three hours logging in and out to activate it without change, then there was a Frontier 'announcement' about it just as I was giving up. I'm now 2 hours into 5 hour download.

This should be pinned somewhere. Button greyed out and doesn't respond but hit enter and it starts.

Let's all just chill out.
Some of you are acting like you've never played a launch-day online game before.
Servers are hitting red due to overwhelming population and sometimes not a lot can be done about it.
No matter the amount of preparation.
Let's offer support instead of poorly-thought frustrated posts.
You can do it FDev!

Same thing here. I'm using steam and have updated and everything. Tried logging out of both steam and the launcher to no success.
Had the same thing, earlier. I logged into the Frontier Store website, went to account settings and had to "re-link" my steam account (a green button in one of the tabs), which I know I had already done before Horizons. Maybe this works for you, too.
