A missing rescue ship, or one that was hijacked on its way to the system, would have been a good story. Because it's a terrorist attack which works differently to a Thargoid attack, with rules we don't fully understand yet (and fdev aren't telling, as usual). Terrorist attacks seem to stop when they decide to stop them as opposed to Thargoid attacks where we see a direct link of cause and effect as the station stops burning the Thursday after the Incursion is defeated.
