Elite Dangerous: Odyssey | The Road To Odyssey Part 2 - Forging Your Path

Except for the fact that we have instant comms and telepresence across the galaxy...

🤷‍♂️ That says more about how inconsistent the lore is than anything else. I have to manually travel light years to transport a piece of data, but have no problem instantly communicating. 🙃 People claim realism was supposed to be this games staple, or semi-realism, but to me, its just something they used to market the game. If semi-realism was truly the goal and they were consistent with it, the game probably would be in a better state by now.

So you'd prefer to spend a couple of months delivering that data to Hutton Orbital as exceeding the speed of light is 'gamey'?

I just use imagination to fill in the holes, consistency in game design is a rare commodity anyway - at least in the ones I have played recently 🤷‍♂️
Naturally, if a game is impossible to believe, I just discard it - as Cyberpunk 2077 was...
🤷‍♂️ Certainly nothing wrong with some things being left up to your imagination. That can only take you so far though. If the lore is trash, it still leaves much to be desired. What would have been cool is if they applied took the timed module transfers for instance and applied it to communication. So instead of a message or VOIP "instantly" getting to you, it will take some time. How much time it should take is up to the developers to decide, based on distance, so as to not risk breaking the gameplay. If I have to manually transfer data, and if I am forced to sit through a timer for my stuff to get transferred to me, then certainly they can apply that to communication to some extent, to keep the "immersion" you fan boys all drone on about more consistent. Who are "you fan boys"?
Do you feel the need to insult those whos view differs from your own?

No point continuing a conversation with you.
