Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 5

And another one, not game breaking, but a nuisance bug similar (and likely similar cause) to the "route cancelled" toast introduced in update 4 (now gone, so thank you all for that :D ) fairly specific but can provide steps to reporduce:

Dock at a station,
plot route to another system,
disembark
go to Apex and request a shuttle,
view the map but don't select anything
go back to your ship
board.

See toast pop with destination you originally plotted!

GPU usage are showing that ED is effictivly using my 8GB GPU ram, and putting alot of strain on my 3070 for alot worse performance.

gettting alot of stuttering in on foot planetary gameplay.

Is was fine before this update, was getting a steady 50 fps with good quality, now it just stutters making it drop to below 20- every 10 sec or something.
Yes, getting this a lot in settlements.

Resetting my gfx settings didn't help at all for the Gamma issue @Ian Skippy @Northpin

As @Darth Ender says - it could be broken on non-HDR screens potentially.

I have made a separate thread on this (and logged an issue): https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/incorrect-gamma-setthings-please-post-your-results-3.584338/

@sallymorganmoore could you kindly add this to your list please? <3

I did some comparisons Horizons/EDO

50% (slider in the middle) in Horizons equals approximately 80% gamma in EDO for the Gamma setting respecting the indications on screen (left image barely visible)
With the ship in space, the sun in upper left corner, facing the Milkyway, the cockpit/dashboard and the skybox look quite even lit.

But at that gamma setting, in EDO certain elements are still too bright:
  • the Sun is too bright,
  • in the starting menu, where we see the ship in the hangar, everything is too bright
  • in concourse certain npc faces are also too bright

Not really bad bright, but visible brighter

Edit: i corrected, i wrote the stars, but i meant the local Sun

Yah, something is definitely off. Curious how it only affects some people.

Yeap, same here.
In Horizons i keep the gamma slider on 50% and it's ok
In EDO the left most gama indicator is starting to get barely discernible at around 85% and only at 100% it's starting to get visible.
And with the slider to 100% the starting menu screen with the ship in the hangar, is visibly too bright.
For me 75% did the trick on Odissey, at least since patch 4.

Monitor/TV probably. I do have to slightly increase gamma (by 2 notches iirc) otherwise things are too dark - never had to touch gamma in Horizons where I left it at the default and bright/dark places looked 'fine' (I hate that word these days...).

Reactivation missions appear to be broken for me.
Boarding the ship to swap out suits cause the mission objectives to disappear.

Logging in and out brings them back for them to disappear again whilst in game. Reactivating the facility anyway doesn't cause the mission to update either.

Its FidelityFX CAS, which is now an option and on by default. You can increase/decrease the sharpness with a slider.
Not sure setting on by default was a good idea.
Several people are complaining the game looks 'different' after the patch.

For me it's an improvement, but I'm still sad I had to go from 1.25x in Horizons to 0.85x in Odissey in order to keep decent FPS.

Restore missions are bugged after patch 5. When on settlment they are not showing the progress on the top right corner and even if I restore the power (no fire extinguisher needed) they don't count.

When I have many fighter bays stored with different fighters into it still cannot see what fighter is installed there until I put module to ship. So I just see N x of 5th slot fighters and keep guessing which I need as on horizons.

This is the way how to change fighters on carrier - you just buy many bays with different fighters into. Then use bay you need.

"Cycle ship specs" is bound to gamepad, could use something like mouse scroll when cursor is over it, or keys 1-4.

is anyone else having issues with the steam client only logging in via steam account and ignoring the locally logged in account for the launcher?

prior to patch 5, the behavior worked as expected where launching the game via steam used the logged in account associated with the launcher as such things have worked since steam was added.

Now after patch 5, it ignores that.

This is problematic for proton users since using proton outside of steam is kind of annoying. And the launcher doesn't appear to have any login options when it's logged in via steam ...which is different from the options available when you run the launcher directly.

ever since odyssey launch, the way the launcher works with steam has been stupid and bug ridden ...so it makes me think this is potentially another - though it could also be something intentionally made this way and force me to change how i launch the game.

It appears Engineer unlocks are bugged - I cannot sell the 20 Opinion Polls to unlock Kit Fowler - I can sell 19 - but the 20th always causes a Yellow Adder,
Others are saying the same applies to Smear Campaigns
