Elite Dangerous: Odyssey Update 6

Awesome, thanks. I was trying to search the forums but it was rather hard to filter out looking for that specific thing from all the other feedback out there. Glad to hear it's being looked at. I do love the idea as an option, as long as it's something that can be toggled, or have it only be when something will cause you to enter an illegal state and only be the first time you do something to enter an illegal state.

There's lots of great options and I'm glad it's being thought about, but it needs to not completely destroy the gameplay for intentional theft. A 1 second delay could mean getting caught, especially if you need to clear out an entire locker with like 15 things in it.

Yeahhh I mean....tell you what, I'm grateful to those of you who like "get the idea" of what we were aiming for BUT that isn't to say it's the absolute right thing when it comes to mass amounts of players getting their hands on it. We'll flip it :)

This update fixed a lot of the bugs I experienced and gave me a more stable frame rate, even without FSR. Good progress!

Glad to hear Frontier is looking to change the delay on stealing items. Using a separate button would be great, just like applying an E-breach.

I did experience a transaction bug while trying to trade assets with full shortage. Had to sell some before I could trade. I've got a video saved that I could add to the issue tracker.

I'm a little confused. Im experiencing the same problem with new fsr as the old fsr cas

I get full use or GPU in stations but not at settlements. GPU at 40 percent usage therefore fsp is 28 to 36fsp. Oh can CPU is about 17 percent used

Do we need to install anything to support fsr in game?

...
I think I found it

I'd actually be ok with what AJH16 said as well, for the theft to be a toggle. I shoulda stipulated that rather than just i didnt like it, but hey, no ones perfect!
To add to what he said, it'd be great to be able to turn it off when needing to loot for engineering or if someone feels up to the challenge, or high risk is involved, or to turn on when you are not particularly wanting to loot anything and it prevents you from something you goin to regret. So, yeah, i can see the up side of what Fdev was thinkin, i just wasnt very clear on it myself :)
Edit : Its 3:30am for me, so brain half asleep....On that note, im goin to bed o7

Does this take into consideration the performance hit? I'd rather have a locked 60 fps (80 in VR) using Horizons lighting than 20 fps using PBR, since framerate is a HUGE part of presentation.
There is no reason why PBR should lead to a 400% performance drop.

Also further to the threads calling for the rollback of that insanely frustrating HOLD to pick up anything illegal... Please be aware that for controller users we have to bind multiple buttons to do actions. If a button like 'X' is bound to X+bumper for instance.. It CANNOT be used for a HOLD function.

This was the cause of the problem I was bugging you about for so long Sally. So it makes controller users have to find a button that isn't being used for a combination button which is next to impossible. I hope you see how this is a problem.

Regards.

Hi all, I've been playing Elite for many years and have definitely learned to live with the game's quirks and weaknesses. I would like to know more about what drove the development of Odyssey - it certainly doesn't seem to have been the user. As a company, when I launch a product, every employee should put their heart and soul into it. I am convinced that this cannot be the case with Odyssey, otherwise they would have spared themselves this misery. Frontier is competing to attract users and keep them in the market. I really have to ask, did you test your own game extensively beforehand and then really like it and think it was ready for the market? Including users in an alpha - a nice try, but as quickly as the DLC was launched afterwards, I strongly suspect it wasn't evaluated or considered at all.
Today we are on update 6, by now many bugs have been fixed, often minor things, but new bugs have appeared. So far Odyssey delivers little added value where you can say - I must have it, it's unique or well made. Many users I know have turned off Elite in the last few weeks or are thinking about it. 6 updates - no significant improvement - which is hard to do even with a completely failed implementation. The CMs are doing a great job, which is not easy these weeks, but that is all they come up with, such as a proper guide to the problems and what is being worked on. Integrating third party solutions is a stopgap - but not a permanent solution. There is no reliable target where the development is going. Please tell me what is worth waiting for and please no phrases. Give me some reasons why I should not permanently switch off this game, which is not much fun at the moment. With no more game content being developed either, this will probably be the last phase of Elite - it needn't have come to this if everyone had done their homework up front. I feel sorry for all the Frontier people who try or have tried really hard every day. I have played a total of 5800 hours so far - I can't say if there will be many more.
This is an English forum. Literally in the rules.

Huh? I use a controller without any issue. It isn't bound to hold, it's a normal toggle the UI switches to hold.

Hi @sallymorganmoore

I posted two issues a few pages back but did not ping you (added it after posting with an edit), so I am resending. Played again earlier today and it's still the case. I know there are more important things to work on but I just wanted to make sure it's on someones radar.

1) The only sentences my SLF says...even while being engaged to an enemy, are:

"Good job commander, no more threats in this sector"
"This area is clear commander. Standing down."
"No more targets. We are all clear commander"

2) Haven't tried reproducing this yet so just a heads up regarding possible issues with Carrier jumps:

My Carrier was parked at Narri near the star and told it to Jump to Narri 1 while I was in the HAZRES in that planet's ring. Finished my combat session (more than 15 minutes) and supercruised to where my carrier was supposed to be, a few light seconds away from the HAZRES. Arrived at location, carrier signal is there but no carrier.
I checked the GalMap and it showed it was parked at the last planet in system?
I rejumped it to Narri 1 and exited the Nav/GalMap and the Carrier immediately jumped to where I was (the original location I told it to jump to).
Then while the 2nd jump was still active (14 min to go) I tried to ask for permission to land and the voice reply would assign me a landing pad but then immediately cancel it saying "landing cancelled, I'm here when you need me" or something to that effect.
I had to cancel the 2nd carrier jump before I was finally able to get a landing pad assigned and land.

Thank you!

Hello!! Just about to finish for the weekend but thanks for these!
Can confirm I have the tracker ticket for the top one already and will keep tabs on the second one. Thanks for the great detail!!

Is the button that u use for picking things up also bound to a combination? because mine won't toggle it to hold. It just won't pick it up as it's a combination button

I have been noticing that Settlement Raids have not been working correctly for me. Out of two raids, both have had the problem where I can't find the last Scavenger. I hope this is isolated or easily fixed.

@sallymorganmoore : I think I found something that changed with update 6?

When I now scan a planet the probe range is WAY bigger then before?
Normally the scan range is about half the planet or 2/3.
Now the range is the whole front side.
The percentages seem to be the same but the graphic representation is WAY off.

Or did you shrink the planets?
I am also getting this too.. the radius of the probe is bigger visually than what it's actually covering, do you have a ticket for it? I will add

To be honest I don't think the visual radius has matched the percentage particularly well for a while.
Yeah but this looks closer to double, with the sheer amount of borkedness.. the code must be a mess in there at this stage! I had high hopes for this Update but.. wow!
