Try relaunching the client, or restarting your machine. I have been on this for the last 3 months of beta and never had problems with updates or re-installs, even after full release. More likely something hung up. I have a 50mb connection and it takes a few minutes at most.
Something sounds very suspicious with your connection. Do you have AV or security software installed? Try to disable them and try to download game from launcher again.
He is right with the designator "inept"... Just not so correct with the targetting.
Wow if that is your attitude you are lucky the first posters actually tried to help.
Why don't you stick to a non-inflammatory thread title and hold the accusations next time until you know who is at fault?

Try to close and restart the launcher. had a similiar problem on my first install. It lokked like it did still try to download, but the speed was a 0 MB/s. After restarting the launcher the game did launch without any further downloading.
Same here.
I had issues downloading on launch day and all i had to do was switch off my firewall for a few mins to allow it to download the 1st 3%. After that it worked fine with it on.

Welcome. I would do checks your end, have you been isp capped, try checking your connection speed. From experience the server ED use are ok. Also are you running bitorrent or similar in the background, if so turn them off.

6 gb download its gunna take time 2mb connection here and took me 12 hours, good news is with some netcode the game only uses as much data aas eve online does in terms of bandwidth when playing
It's a problem with your ISP or your settings. I have 100 Mbit connection and it was downloading at 3-5 MB/sec. And I'm not just talking about that one download. I'm talking about every download and upgrade since Beta. Try to check your firewall and stuff.

Welcome to the forums, what with it being Christmas Day and all, it might be that 1000's of people are simultaneously downloading their ED pressies, but its much more likely to be an anti-virus, firewall or connectivity issue. Check those first. AVAST! gets a special mention somewhere on the forums, for example.

A 5 MB connection, or a 5 Mb/s connection? Usually, we use "Mb/s" (Mbps) for Connection speed, and MB/s for Download speed. And 5 Mb/s corresponds to 0.6MB/s (MAX). So, if the value is rounded... Nothing wrong here: you just have to wait for a few hours. Which would be expected for any digital copy of any game (Well, E: D is actually quite small, so that's better).

Very true, just a bit frustrated.
1000Mb test file is slightly above average from my ISP's server 5.5MB/s, 3.67MB/.s from a random London server, so no.
Yep, fresh install of windows thats 1 day old and up to date.
Not at all, all virus scanners and firewalls disabled in the first hour of the problem, VPN shutdown and all process that were not needed killed off, even tried the guys connection next door that is not encrypted.
I just love how people ascribe to random assumptions that other people havent trouble shot the problem...... and where did i say the developers are to blame ?
this attitude is typical of a disgruntled customer, and ill choose whatever title i want but thanks for the inane advise, and as far as i can tell im not at fault as every other server i connect to in the world seem to work as expected, and as you seemed to have missed my point completely iim trying to become part of the community but the bloody game wont DOWNLOAD !
