I take it peace negotiations in Old Athens didn't pan out, nor in Newland? AnarchyOnline is rarely referenced to these days. I played that, 20 years ago.
It's still alive, barely. A franchise that could have been great. Ruined by multi-boxing and mismanagement.

They reinstated with a classic version and ruined that as well.

It was simply the best gaming community, not even eclipsed by squadrons in Elite or Guilds in WoW.

The recent Netflix WoW film( a recommended tear jerker) about a disabled player being equal within the game was as true in Anarchy Online. I personally in the game was friends with a quadriplegic doctor the player using a head device to play, had friends that passed away, including tragically whilst playing the game due to a twister hitting their house.

So many great stories, so much fun, my icon is of my main in the Temple. I do also like Elite's Omni Troopers lol ;)

Enough reminiscing, not going to pay £20 per month for a dead game , well in maintenance mode.
 
My assignment is to sell exploration data in a designated system. Easy-peasy enough, but I come to find out that my data is not applied to the assignment.
Is selling exploration data still broken and also for this assignment?. Anybody else running into this?

There's an issue logged with 8 separate cases of the same problem. There's also two duplicate issues (which I have now marked) so we're at 10 cases already. https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/69158

If everyone who sees this problem with cartographic data could log their exact scenario there maybe we can get to the bottom of it by comparing everyone's details. Or who knows, FDev might actually notice it's broken, and they might fix it!
 
I'd personally just save any exploration data until FDev makes a comment to clarify if it's working as intended; or what the minimum limits actually are, outside of player guesswork, so people can test it works as FDev thinks it does without needing to wonder if it's bugged or if the sale amount just was below some hidden limit.

Hmmm .... Ship destroyed. I didn't have much on it though. So no big loss. :ROFLMAO:

Seems like only working of you sell a complete page. I sold a page but there was one system not sellable (too close to target system) and it did not count.
Went to a Carrier and sold the unsellable system (carriers don't have range limits). Did another quick trip and kept an eye on min distance. Sold the page at the station and it counted.
There are other reports, telling that selling the whole page on a carrier in the target system works.

So from an analytical perspective chances are high, that the bug is only accepting whole pages for merits.

I took your theory to the test and made sure my exploration data sold as a whole with no unsellable data. I still don't see merits or see my assignment fulfilled. Too bad :cry:

I've sold a full page, and got only the merits for my weekly at the time. 🤷‍♂️ (at least the weekly worked back then)
Stopped selling any explodata after that until it's confirmed to actually be fixed by FDev.

There are a lot of hypotheses flying around... need to sell a full page, should only sell data that exceeds some arbitrary value, needs to have this or that planet, only works on the fifth sunday of the month... while wearing only one sock... and using the controller with your arm looped under your leg.

Multiple reports of carrier sales working though, so tough luck if you don't have one I guess? :(

Come on FDev, spill the beans and tell us what the specific requirements are supposed to be, so we can make sure it's not just flat out bugged the duck out like it seems to be. 🤦‍♂️
 
While each power has its own particular "playstyle," mine was to team up with Jerome Archer because I really like combat. But the only weekly missions he gives me are about anything but combat. How can that be?

The weekly assignments are generated randomly (and somewhat dependent on your current location at the time).
 
Next week it'll be 4 months of disabled merits, the pause came after 2 weeks of PP2.

Very unfortunate because it's handicapping specific powers more than others (due to Ethos bonuses).
And:
  • rare commodities still suspended for merits
  • fix the 1/t ton trading merits
  • bugged PCZs (empty, disappearing, not appearing for NA tz players)

^^ more or less these are the most relevant pending fixes.

Yeah, that's the bug. The weightings for random don't match the intended playstyles particularly well, which is disappointing given the amount of micromanagement of "ethos" FDev put into it. Some of the ethos choices themselves don't fit the storytelling either.
 
Well, personally I've stopped trying to make PP make sense from a lore/story perspective a long time ago. Long before PP2 came along.

It's not easy making a competitive PvP system like that fit any believable narrative.

But you're right that activities might be better weighted toward the respective ethos, although that would be really hard to balance I assume.
 
The Power Play, unchecked, and Colonization, furthermore, advances while the previous one remains half-finished or abandoned, something all too common in the last 10 years.
The problem is that Colonization is in cardiac arrest and Pranav Antal's team is in medical abandonment. Capsules still don't grant merits, although they are a requirement for acquiring systems, and exobiology doesn't grant merits either, except for a certain amount of money and, apparently, only in fortified systems...
While other powers do earn money and merits from other actions like mining.
Anyway.
