O... M... G...

This is something I suggested back in 2014 and I got a thread full of replies like "Elite is one man against the Universe... go play Eve... blah blah"

Finally Elite is going to become a multi player game with proper multi player structure. This is the best news I've heard in a long long time.

Indeed; this will definitely make me want to either join a squadron, or start my own. :D

Will single players be able to own their own carriers? I really don't care if they cost 10billion, I'd just love the notion of having that long term goal to shoot for.
I'm not part of any group so will group play be mandatory for these things?

I`d imagine a 100 billion credits minimum. Only player groups with decent numbers will have them I`d imagine, such ships are huge. There may be a hefty maintenance cost attached for upkeep, supplies, fuel, ammo, repairs etc. It would make sense to have such costs.

I have to say I am impressed. I love the new content, and the enhancements mentioned.
It was nice to see how much they love the game.
All good stuff I'm sure atmosphere landing will come later once we sample some of the fog they mentioned.

Love the new planet looks wow

The new lighting and planetary surface tech are all a stepping stone to atmospheric planets, most likely 2019. 2020 for space legs I`d say, which is fine. Core improvements will add meat to the bone for first person game play.

Thanks for the feedback and rep Commanders. o7. :D

Very impressed with the roadmap presentation, sounds like there's almost something in ED: Beyond for everyone, regardless of how you play the game. Exploration, Mining, Trading all have much-needed improvements incoming. Combat players have new ships. Players who want to be scientists look like they're getting some new equipment. Players groups get carriers. Heck, even the Alliance gets something! :p

The biggest surprise for me was that its all going to be free. I'll be saying thank-you via the Frontier store at some point.

This is cool but underwhelming for a whole year of content. It makes me worried that the team and the budget for ED have been greatly reduced, and this doesn't bode well for possible future big updates such as spacelegs and atmospheric planets. I hope I'm wrong though.

On the whole I'm feeling positive for 2018. There's a lot there that's of interest to me.
The devil will however be in the detail.
Hoping for more info over the coming months.

Great post

Some genuinely nice additions on the way.

Just hate the wait times, doubt I can hang on until Q1 2018 (Which could mean a April 2018 release for the first bits) - Might be time for another long break!

Type-10 already has a ship kit and the Chieftain looks great. It has a nice departure from other aesthetics already in game.

in the sumer they released a report showing the contuary, their staff has only increased, they are doing well economicaly. and since they are moving to a bigger office, i think it goes quite well for them.

Looks like the mean-offspring of a Gunship and Keelback. The armed trader within me is already wondering about cargo capacity.

I'm guessing at least 4 medium hardpoints for the AX gear.

well, since this ship was develped to target the Thargoids, it will be on the more heavely armed side i think. but it's size seems that it will have atleast some good cargo capacity.

Nobody else getting panther clipper vibes from the chieftain?

And also that hatch on the bottom of the Krait, I'm trying to figure out its size from it. Is it the cargo hatch (meaning it's very small) or is it a fighter hangar (meaning very big)?

Oh yeah, she's designed to whack Thargoids, but even the Gunship makes for a capable armed Trader. And a decent miner too (at least NPCs in RES zones think so). :)

I guess this may explain what all those mysterious Alliance research labs in the California Nebula have been up to. :p

I think i posted in wrong thread before.

Interesting that 2018 is free. I am cool with it but other Lep owners may be a bit worried. £120 is a lot. Gutted that so much of it is MP only . No NPC wings which I really hoped would come and no NPC crew .

Hopeful mining will be good and better scanning tools. And colourful planets look nice

Mixed feelings over all for me. Guilds do nothing for me and wing missions without npc wings will mostly pass me by too.
