Elite Dangerous | System Colonisation Beta Details & Feedback

One thing that really gets on my nerves:

Please provid detailed informations about the exact type of settlements in the system map.

Currently there is no such information.
Why can't i see whether this is a comms installation, or a relay, or on the surface a Refinery Hub or an Tier1 Medium Agricultural Settlement.

I have to actually fly there to find out what it is, even when i have built it with my own hands. There is room enough in the information box (top right button in the system map) that has the same text for every installation. And very little information about outposts and settlements.

What should they announce, "We are working on it", "We can't commit to a date it will be fixed".

Do you want to know what line of code they changed?

If they provide a date because it is demanded and they don't make that date, the salty tears will flow even more.

I would rather they fix the issues properly, otherwise any issues will branch out and become impossible to fix.

Communication or its lack is valid feedback to the developer. I’m certain something between a livestream of the coding process and no information could be arranged.

Over-reading into a maintenance notice is not FDevs fault directly but a little update now and then on a headline feature disabled would go a long way.

Yes - very hard to tell which of the two, especially in a single system.

Odyssey settlements seemed to be allocated randomly, but weighted approximately based on influence so the controller got more. But there we had hundreds of thousands of them added at once to check distributions of.
The faction that got 4 were not the system controller but one of the other factions so it isn't based on influence share in this case. My faction were pretty much on the same INF and got nothing so who knows what governs it. Still, I'll have one of them in a couple of days and ....in couple of weeks...... the whole system! Mwahh ha ha haaa.... Oh, the power! :)

Does anyone know when we can start colonizing again?
quoting Paul in another Thread
"Hi folks, we appreciate you are eager to know more on the Colonisation pause. We don't have anything to announce right now as investigations are still ongoing. We are not able to offer a timetable at this time. Rest assured that as soon as we can share more we will let everyone know. "

I have feedback - How about we don't get shot at and/ or fined for viewing the ground installations we built? LOL
I built my second ground site that has done just that. An exploration hub of all things. Turns out? It's like trying to get into Fort Knox and his highly militarized. My poor T9 space trucker can't take that kind of beating. Doesn't seem very "Exploration Hub" to me. It would be like going on a long road trip, pulling off at the truck stop/ rest stop and everyone has AKs and opening fire on you. Like, "Whoa! I just need to use the damn restroom and maybe have a go at some crappy vending machine coffee!"

Also, on a separate note? Doesn't it seem like population should be higher? I have a few tier 1, tier 2 and tier 3 ground sites and space installations, but I feel like the coriolis port, alone, especially in being T3, should facilitate 10,000 on its own. My system's population is only 20K. I always thought those tall structures on the outside of the coriolis port were buildings people lived in.

... ok.... finding out where something is in demand is like, trading 101. In the case of CMMs, it's literally just a case of finding literally any high tech, industrial or military economy.

If someone can't go to the galaxy map and do that... i dunno... do i start my guide at how to install Elite and log on?
Don't be absurd and quit attempting to derail my comments.

Some building materials are considered "illegal", it would be good to adjust this.
while I was shipping battle weapons and combat stabilizers I was half expecting the police from the faction whose stations i was building would scan me and get mad. Fortunately no scans that time around.

I realized I had battle weapons for building up a military settlement. I had to go 8 jumps out of my way to get them. Had to stop for fuel. Trying to boost with silent running through a slot and stop before hitting the back in a Cutter is... a challenge. Most expensive fuel bill I've ever had.

Does anyone know if surface hubs like the refinery count toward the increased point cost?
If you mean the Silenus Refinery then no. I already had a Coriolis port when I built my Silenus refinery and when I 'bought' the main Planetary Port it only cost 6 T3 points, not 12.

This might seem like an issue on paper but unless you are trying to pick up more cargo at another port where those commodities are deemed illegal due to jurisdiction (generally military stuff like Battle Weapons), you’ll be off fine. Because there is never any security patrols at a construction site (not seen any yet anyway).

People take time to produce on site, have you been shipping any in?
